Website Editor (Vancouver)
Adbusters Media Foundation is looking for a mature, passionate, politically charged Web Editor who can take our online presence to the next level.
We're revamping our presence on the web to better reflect the heterodox spirit of our magazine: avant-garde, audacious, and unlike anything else. To that end, we're looking to bring aboard a forward-thinking Web Editor with the passion and drive to help create a striking digital complement to our print magazine.
Adbusters, the journal of the mental environment, is a staple of the counterculture. For three decades, our collective of dissidents and dreamers has been smashing ads, castigating corruption, and taking the powers that be to task — without ever accepting a single corporate dollar. From Buy Nothing Day to #OccupyWallStreet, we've been at the helm of some of our era's definitive toneshifting moments. Become a key part of our mission to forge radical new ways to live, love, and think.
The Web Editor will work closely with other editorial staff, including the Editor-in-Chief. The Web Editor's job consists primarily of the following tasks:
- Editing, curating, and writing material for the web;
- Executing the above within a potent, zhuzhed-up new design for our online presence;
- Organizing campaigns and writing activist briefings;
- Researching political, environmental, and related topics;
- Communicating with our readers and the broader public.
A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Political and environmental savvy;
- Strong writing and editing skills;
- Strong digital skills;
- The ability to work efficiently and effectively alongside a team of staff and contributors;
- Curiosity and passion.
