Web Editor (Vancouver)

Adbusters Media Foundation is looking for a new Web Editor — a mature, passionate, politically charged individual who can take our online presence to the next level.

We're revamping our presence on the web to better reflect the spirit of our print magazine — atypical, avant-garde, and audacious unlike anything else. To that end, we are looking to bring aboard an experienced Web Editor with the passion required to make our website a strikingly heterodox complement to our magazine.

The Web Editor will work closely with other editorial staff, including foremost the Editor-in-Chief. The Web Editor's job consists primarily of the following tasks:

  • Editing, curating, and creating material for the web;
  • Doing the above within a potent, zhuzhed-up new design for our online presence;
  • Researching contemporary political, environmental, and related topics;
  • Organizing campaigns and writing activist briefings.

A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of equivalent experience;
  • Strong writing and editing skills;
  • Strong digital and online skills;
  • The ability to work both efficiently and effectively alongside a team of staff and contributors;
  • A history of political and/or environmental engagement.

Assistant Web Developer/Internship/Volunteer (Vancouver)

Adbusters Media Foundation is looking for an Assistant Web Developer at our organization during our ongoing website upgrade. The ideal candidate will have either formal training or a background in web coding, as well as a solid understanding of anything and everything that goes into making a website live. We are also accepting current students registered in any Web related post-secondary program, whose program accepts paid and/or voluntary experience in exchange for school credits. Please send along details of your educational requirements with your application.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in managing Adbusters websites (Webflow and Wordpress)
  • Create and optimize graphics for web use while maintaining the Adbusters aesthetic
  • Website testing (Shopify theme)
  • Create page design prototypes
  • Create and perform UX/UI testing survey on improving current websites
  • Study websites analytics and come up with marketing strategies


  • Intermediate knowledge of HTML,CSS, WordPress, PHP, Javascript
  • Working knowledge of email marketing, Ecommerce, back end server managing
  • Basic web image editing skill (Photoshop)
  • A willingness to learn about Webflow
  • A team-player attitude—the job is very collaborative and you will need to work closely with the Art Director and Web Manager

Additional assets include:

  • Experience in Shopify Liquid is a big bonus
  • Politically-minded, familiar with Adbusters magazines and campaigns
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Web Design/Development, Media and Arts + Design

Office/Project Manager (Vancouver)

Adbusters Media Foundation is searching for an experienced and geo-politically savvy Office/Project Manager to join our Vancouver office. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years managerial experience in an activist or environmental organization, with practical experience in managing social campaigns, crowdfunding projects and overseeing daily admin tasks such as answering emails/phone calls, taking care of subscribers database, coordinating staff meeting and production schedules.

This is a full time position with a part-time trial period/contract to begin with.

Key Qualifications:

  • 3-5 practical experience in launching social campaigns and projects for an activist/environmental organization
  • Self-organized, fast learner, with the ability to plan ahead
  • Practical knowledge in campaign related platforms, including online fundraising and social media.

Volunteers (Vancouver)

Adbusters is looking for politically-minded, dynamic people to join our editorial, web and management teams at our Vancouver office. We welcome applicants from a broad range of perspectives and backgrounds. A willingness to work in a spirited, collaborative environment is essential. Preferred applicants will have an activist bent and a desire to engage with the pressing issues of our time.

Volunteers must be willing to work as a team on various tasks such as:

  • Customer service (handling phone calls and subscriptions)
  • Office assistant (admin, inventory, shipping)
  • Social Media (drafting weekly social media content)
  • Web update/maintenance (HTML/CSS/Java/Wordpress)
