Who the F**k Do You Think You Are

It's time for a look in the mirror.
Who the F**k Do You Think You Are
Chicago, Il 2003. Brian Ulrich

This article is available in:

You blame China. You blame India. You blame America. You blame the CEOs, the oil companies, the vague and incoherent 'system,' the international regulatory regimes, the hypocrisy of the left, the righteous of the right, the educators, the economy, your parents, your childhood, your job, your bank account, your mental health, your government, everyone and everything but yourself. Wake up! This is no joke. Ecocide is actually happening and your five planet-lifestyle is the primary cause of it.

THANK YOU!

i say this due to a battle in myself, a battle i see in others...
we know something needs to change
but labelling this ambiguous system as the point of action
is , in my experience, moreso passivity than action.

what is the system, anyhow? an interlocking machine in which i pull the level?

this me vs the system breeds hate, breeds more violence...

so how do we approach problems, in favor of pacifism and peace and so forth, BEING these changes ourselves?

i ask myself this question often...
because i know it''s easier to point fingers

it's fun and sexy to identify as 'anti system', wear black hoodies, have a brooding way of speaking

but...sometimes life is good too! i try to make space for this as much as i can...

maybe resistance is part of a larger scheme of letting go

and so seeing both is valuable

seeing beyond the me vs the system

thanks.

"Be the change you want to see"
People will emulate you, I guarantee. People are like mirrors, all trying to reflect a certain image. You aren't being rebellious or making a change if you keep buying things like that cool urban outfitters hoodie. The only true rebels are the Thoreau's, McCandless's, and Grey Owls who completely cut themselves off and lived in their own utopia. I'm not saying you have to live in the woods, but stop buying things (or be very skeptical in what you purchase) if you want help your cause.

Just came back from a stroll in town - looking at the shop windows, thinking "sell your toxical waste shoes / jeans / whatever to someone else".

Feels good.

Gonna bake an apple cake now. Peace.
