With glaciers, ice caps and permafrosts melting at ever-increasing rates, causing alarming rises in sea levels and shifts in the oceans' currents, playing havoc with ocean temperatures, salinity and the livelihood of all earth’s water-dependent inhabitants (every single living organism); with motor vehicles, a status symbol of the modern capitalist-consumer age, an advertising-led and urban-sprawl necessity entering, filling, congesting our roads in hoards of hundreds by the minute, driving pollution and a giant oil-hungry machine that plunders and rapes our mother earth for all her natural resources, ensuring a quickened death to our home, are we throwing it all away? Are we burning it all down? Or are we simply guaranteeing a grim future for the few generations that will live beyond our neglect, our selfishness and our greed? We live on the bloated corpse of an economic system that is no longer relevant to our time, and – since its very first day – has been completely detached from the very home our race inhabits. Controlled by a small number of maggots feeding on its insides and poisoning us all, will we see the light and change our ways, before the nature that supports us is bled of all it has to lose?

Sometimes the messages in these signs do not engage the audience they are intended for. If this is a true attempt at provoking the mind of an Economics professor, the obvious revolutionary-style voice needs to be dropped and facts need to be added. Economics professors work on statistics and models, not emotion.

Isn't the point precisely what you say: to engage the econ profs on a level they refuse to acknowledge?

Intense emotion is the proper response to the faulty statistics and models of these old goats.

I would propose the introduction of a new subject in the curriculum of colleges and universities around the word. Eco-nomics...
It would reconcile the proposition of global growth with the reality of a global shortage of resources. An issue all nations, rich and poor, need to adhere to, to ensure a sustainable future for our children and future generations....
No man, woman, -or child wants the alternative. That the nations of the world begin wars over the last remnants of our natural resourses....
- Reaching peak oil in 5--10 years, max 25 years.
- Reaching peak fosforus (necessary furtiliser for food production).
- Reaching peak rare metals (used in industry and production).

Awareness is the first step to prevail if we are not to eliminate ouselves in the wars over remnant resources... We must reconcile the people of the world to save the planet which gave us life...
