Why Don't We Put This Company out of Business?

Why Don't We Put Philip Morris out of Business?

We’ve all seen the movies, the blood-soaked tales of monsters that simply will not die. Immortal and indestructible, they rise up to torture the embattled heroes again and again and again. Philip Morris has been that monster for over a century, peddling its poison on the open markets and sending hundreds of thousands to early graves. Like any good monster, it mutates – changing its product, packaging and message to attract a new generation of young smokers as the old ones die off. And just when you think you have it trapped – cornered by damning science and angry legislation – you open the door to find the monster has escaped. By lobbying the state of New York to revoke Philip Morris’s corporate charter, we can finally end the carnage. As any harrowed horror protagonist can tell you, the only way to be sure you’re rid of the monster is to cut off its head and watch it die.

Which corporate crooks do you think should be next on the chopping block?

When are people going to learn to be acountable for their own health. The sollution should come from the consumer, not the coorporation. It's time we grew up, take responsibility of our own bodies and stop expecting the government and coorporations to keep us healthy. As for children, whatever happened to parents? Since when is it the government that needs to tell your children not to smoke. The world is full of hazards, bs and sleezy businesses. Don't look to governments and coorporations to solve issues which you can easily solve on your own.
Educate and parent your kids on the consequences of smoking, spend time on cooking decent food rather than going through the drive through at mac donalds. Spend a day at the park with your kids running around rather then sticking them behind a playstation. Or would we rather have governments to do the parenting for us and expect the world to be free from any dangers so we dont have to?
It's the lazy "governments should do this and that" attitude that got us in to the current situation to begin with.

Geez. Are you aware of our government's way of oppressing the poor to the extent where they are "stupefied by poverty and ignorance" and cannot make proper choices for themselves?
Do you know what propaganda IS?
And answering your question, "As for children, what ever happened to parents?"
The nuclear family was destroyed by so-called "women's lib" which just created the "latch-key kid" (i.e. the child that comes home to Doritos, coca cola, television, and no one...and probably, increasingly hard-core internet pornography)
Are you aware that women's lib made it possible for not only one wage-slave (the male/father), but two wage-slaves (the female/"super mom") per household? That is a 50 percent increase in slavery to corporations. Where are the parents? Gee, I wonder...there are less and less mother's in the home every year. They are out of the house, forced to serve capitalism. Could this possibly create an emotionally unstable environment for the child? And do you think it is possible that the child will in turn be more willing to submit to being a passive consumer (of Lady Gaga, Disney and Coca Cola...and the like)? This is all planned out. They want to make slaves out of us. Please, wake up.

Couldn't agree with you more! We have the privilege of choice - and we can choose to smoke, drink, eat etc whatever we decide to. The question remains as to whether we make INFORMED choices - it all boils down to the educational environment we are lucky or unlucky enough to be born into. This extends to the area of family planning. We live in an over populated world as it is and I never cease to wonder as to why couples would choose to have more than 2 children!

GCF

I don't know about in the US, but the tax revenue generated by cigarette sales is just far too high for governments to give up. The solution starts with individual consumers - on a individual basis, people need to decide to stop smoking and help teach their children to not start.

Realize

"Why Don't We Put This Company out of Business?
Philip Morris is the number one corporate criminal in the world"

C'mon..... If Philip Morris is the #1 what about Monsanto?????

You know, I am talking about those guy who produced herbicide, saccharin, aspartame, genetically modify seeds, the famous Agent Orange, bovine growth hormone (cancer accelerator in adults and non infants).

Those guys who discharge tons of mercury and PCB in landfill during 40 years in Alabama, buried million of pounds in open pit landfills around it's plant, pollute groundwater and the atmosphere for 30 years by dumping thousands of tons of highly toxic waste in UK landfill sites...

Monsanto this company using coercive tactics to monopolize markets, import unauthorized GMO in Europe, using false advertising...
Alleged to employ child child labor in India (and sponsor attraction at Walt Disney World and Disneyland).

But I might be wrong! Monsanto was just named "company of the year" by Forbes few month ago...

So who is the real evil?
