Why Don't We Put This Company out of Business?

Philip Morris is the number one corporate criminal in the world.
Why Don't We Put Philip Morris out of Business?

We’ve all seen the movies, the blood-soaked tales of monsters that simply will not die. Immortal and indestructible, they rise up to torture the embattled heroes again and again and again. Philip Morris has been that monster for over a century, peddling its poison on the open markets and sending hundreds of thousands to early graves. Like any good monster, it mutates – changing its product, packaging and message to attract a new generation of young smokers as the old ones die off. And just when you think you have it trapped – cornered by damning science and angry legislation – you open the door to find the monster has escaped. By lobbying the state of New York to revoke Philip Morris’s corporate charter, we can finally end the carnage. As any harrowed horror protagonist can tell you, the only way to be sure you’re rid of the monster is to cut off its head and watch it die.

Which corporate crooks do you think should be next on the chopping block?

Nobody is forced to smoke, eat at McDonalds and watch CNN. Are you really such babies you can't stear away from those on your own force? Do you need your government to prescribe everything for you because you are too immature to cook your own food, quit smoking and spend more time outside and less inside watching rubish t.v. like CNN?

We have the freedom to choose, it's time we started doing something with that freedom. Grow up!

Ok, let's direct this back to smoking, and connect it to freedom. Freedom is amazing, and it's probably one of the best things a government can give its people. But where is the freedom in smoking? When people start smoking, it's usually when they're younger, and their brain isn't fully developed yet. 10% of kids start smoking before high school. I don't know the number of kids who start in high school, but it's definitely higher because of accessibility. So, people start when they don't know what they're getting into, and then when they know what's wrong, they have the freedom to stop. Or do they? Everyone says that people can simply stop quitting, but it's not that easy. There's no freedom when you're locked in addiction.

It's not just about smoking, why do you think mc donalds has a clown and happy meals? A lot of kids start drinking before high school too and not to mention the weight issues.

The freedom in smoking, junk food and alcohol is the freedom to do with your body whatever you want. Do you want a government to force you into vegetables, no alcohol and no tobacco?

I quit smoking after 15 years of heavy smoking. It's not that easy, but it isn't that hard either!

As for kids, parents should take responsibility, not the government. Or do you want the guy in the white house to tell what your kids are allowed to do and what not? If a kid starts smoking before high school parents should step up. Or is it ok to not smoke and be a tub of lard because of all the burgers, pizza and coke that went in?

To me, it's another small-time problem in a big-time problematic world. Fixing effects will never cure any cause(you and I, or them, or us). One solution might be this: Today, or everyday, everyone do exactly the opposite of what you were going to do - think exactly the opposite you were about to think. At the moment, that's all I can come up with to solve the big-time.

I care more about things like "Goldman Sachs" bank..

Or, frankly, the corporate shit-heads who do things like sending jobs overseas and importing illegals.

See, a tobacco company sells a product that some people choose to use that, yes, has bad effects on health. Well, to some the entertainment is worth a shortened lifespan, etc.

On the other hand, when they slit the economy's throat to show a profit next quarter, they do a lot of damage to people who have no real choice in what they do. And personal freedom is hurt more as people scramble for jobs when the economy is being sabotaged, at least to hurt the current people in power to further help the people who did the damage.
