Enough. Boycott Israel.

Is it time we organized a broad campaign to boycott, divest and sanction Israel?

In a recent editorial in the Guardian UK, Naomi Klein called for a widespread Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel. She wrote that, "It's time. Long past time. The best strategy to end the increasingly bloody occupation is for Israel to become the target of the kind of global movement that put an end to apartheid in South Africa... Every day that Israel pounds Gaza brings more converts to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions cause - even among Israeli Jews. In the midst of the assault roughly 500 Israelis, dozens of them well-known artists and scholars, sent a letter to foreign ambassadors in Israel. It calls for "the adoption of immediate restrictive measures and sanctions" and draws a clear parallel with the anti-apartheid struggle. 'The boycott on South Africa was effective, but Israel is handled with kid gloves ... This international backing must stop.'"

Naomi Klein's assessment resonates with many people who are terribly upset by the injustice they see happening in Gaza. Now is the time that we should collectively act to simultaneously reject consumerism and the war in Gaza. Getting involved is easy:

First, visit the Boycott Israeli Goods website and begin actively refusing to buy any product made in Israel. You can also download a comprehensive guide of Israeli products.

And, if you have a website, you can promote this campaign by adding a small "Boycott Israel" banner to the top left of your website. To do so, put the following code anywhere on your webpage. For an example of how this looks, visit why-war.com

Do you think a boycott of Israel can end the occupation of Palestine? How can we spread this Boycott campaign more widely?

Update: The following websites have joined the Boycott Israel campaign. We will keep updating this list as more sites join!

Israel should not be boycotted. It's the rest of the states in the Arab world which support terrorism against Israel and the rest of the West that should be boycotted. Israel is simply defending itself against those who would kill its citizens and destroy the country. Israel does not target babies, schoolchildren, and the hospitalized; Hamas does. Hamas puts the vulnerable in harm's way deliberately, cruelly, expecting Israel to sacrifice itself for the sake of Hamas's hostages. Israel, wisely, chooses not to, treating those innocent as what they are: Hamas's victims. You and all the readers who support you have simply been brainwashed by the pro-Islamofascist world media, and their leftist enablers in America. Wake up. Don't join this barbarous gravy train of deluded souls.

You are right to remain anonymous. In fact it doesn't matter to know your name or not. You are just part of the fascist-imperialist conglomerate that rule today. What you say about terrorism is just straight out of the Bush dictionary and no one with brains is interested any more. Terrorism is not a philosophy but a war strategy. The Israelis that bombed the King David hotel killing Brits and the ones that already in 1947 killed Palestinian women and children for the scope of terrorizing the populace and make them go in exile know this very well. In fact I think you right. Israel should not be boycotted. Just carpet bombed with white phosphorus granades

It is sad to find people rationalize the use of force, destruction, war...all of this just creates more hate, fear, suffering. Both sides are equally responsable for the carnage that is happenning as well as both sides are equally incapable to stop and find a peacefull solution to the problem that was created with the Israel nation over the palestein one. Why cant they just co-exist?why cant they just respect each other?why cant they stop the pression and the reactive nature of responding with violence?why cant they just share it? Is it because they don't want to!They enjoy their identity and archetypal role in the situation. Why cant we stop making it into a ant-semitic or anti-muslim?Why are we so polarized in our view of this?why cant we see that any form of violent response is not the solution.

israel is the birthplace of three of the world's largest religions... and right now one of them is flying their colors over the land... the most hard to swallow yet probably the eventual and only solution is a non-secular, unified state.... it may be a wet, silly american-ish dream without walls, weapon sales, nationalism, rival factions and biblical prowess but think about it... the finger pointing and the bullets flying would cease and that republic would be a true model of democracy for the region.

I would like to see a campaign to boycott Israel, with some parallelism between what they are doing and what dictatorial government of the past did. For example: the wall of Berlin and the wall of Gaza. The racism against Jews and the one against Arabs.
