Enough. Boycott Israel.

Is it time we organized a broad campaign to boycott, divest and sanction Israel?

In a recent editorial in the Guardian UK, Naomi Klein called for a widespread Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel. She wrote that, "It's time. Long past time. The best strategy to end the increasingly bloody occupation is for Israel to become the target of the kind of global movement that put an end to apartheid in South Africa... Every day that Israel pounds Gaza brings more converts to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions cause - even among Israeli Jews. In the midst of the assault roughly 500 Israelis, dozens of them well-known artists and scholars, sent a letter to foreign ambassadors in Israel. It calls for "the adoption of immediate restrictive measures and sanctions" and draws a clear parallel with the anti-apartheid struggle. 'The boycott on South Africa was effective, but Israel is handled with kid gloves ... This international backing must stop.'"

Naomi Klein's assessment resonates with many people who are terribly upset by the injustice they see happening in Gaza. Now is the time that we should collectively act to simultaneously reject consumerism and the war in Gaza. Getting involved is easy:

First, visit the Boycott Israeli Goods website and begin actively refusing to buy any product made in Israel. You can also download a comprehensive guide of Israeli products.

And, if you have a website, you can promote this campaign by adding a small "Boycott Israel" banner to the top left of your website. To do so, put the following code anywhere on your webpage. For an example of how this looks, visit why-war.com

Do you think a boycott of Israel can end the occupation of Palestine? How can we spread this Boycott campaign more widely?

Update: The following websites have joined the Boycott Israel campaign. We will keep updating this list as more sites join!

I'm tired of all you liberal anti-Israel imbeciles. You completely misunderstand the situation. The only reason you think Israel is the only one at fault is because you only look at one source in the media. Israel warned Hamas to stop firing rockets repeatedly before they moved into Gaza. The truth is, if Hamas and Hezbolah were not attacking Israel, Israel wouldn't be causing so much violence. Lebanon and Palestine are going about gaining more independence and accomplishing their other goals the wrong way. They are fighting a military campaign they cannot win while they should be fighting with protests and demonstrations.

The question you need to ask is why is Hamas firing rockets into Israel? They won the democratic election, fair and square. Why did Israel not condone of them winning and giving the office to some brown-nose weasel. What would we do if Barak won and another country came and said no McCain is the winner. All Hell would break loose!!! Which is exactly what happened there. The American Government claims it wants to bring democracy into Arab countries, bull! If they did want to do that why not let the democratic party that won, WIN!!! It's all bull. George Bush and other oppressors will try very hard to hide on the Day of Judgement, but they will not be able to. God says their necks will be stretched out of the crowds like a giraffe and they only have one destination for the Hereafter, we all know where that will be.

I can't believe you would even dare say that we only look at "one source in the media." Personally, I'm outraged about the situation and anti-Israel in large part because of the way that the conflict is portrayed wrongly in almost ALL mainstream media. No, I don't agree with Hamas' or Hezbollah's tactics, but blaming them for all of the current problems at hand is truly to ignore the elephant in the room... many elephants. And I'll agree with you, Lebanon and Palestine are going about gaining more independence the wrong way, because the right way would be for Israel to cease and desist and GIVE the Palestineans back their land instead of paying people to illegally settle in territory ceded to them. I'll do the protests and demonstrations, because they are finding it very hard to avoid bombs dropping on their homes.

I do believe in boycotting Israeli products. It is very hard to boycott products that are all over the world especially in the U.S. A lot of companies support Israel because there are so many zionists here in America. Most of congress are zionists. This is why they are in support of anything Bush suggests against the Muslim countries. They want to ruin their economies because of their own jealousy. Everyone will get whats coming to them on the Day that is feared by everyone. Whether they wish to believe it or not. We should all worry about what we are doing wrong, because God says, "Any good that happens to us is from him and any bad that happens to us is because we are doing wrong." So let's all work on ourselves first and then try to live in peace. And maybe He (Allah) will bless us and have mercy on us.

“MORE than 100 Australian Jews, including two award-winning novelists and a former federal cabinet minister, have signed a statement condemning Israel’s siege of Gaza.” Australian Jews protest against Israel’s action “The Zionist ideology is antithetical to the Torah. Zionism was deviously designed to replace the Torah and its holy, God-given commandments with nationalistic, power-driven ideals that are devoid of holiness, godliness, or spirituality.” Jews Against Zionism
