Enough. Boycott Israel.

Is it time we organized a broad campaign to boycott, divest and sanction Israel?

In a recent editorial in the Guardian UK, Naomi Klein called for a widespread Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel. She wrote that, "It's time. Long past time. The best strategy to end the increasingly bloody occupation is for Israel to become the target of the kind of global movement that put an end to apartheid in South Africa... Every day that Israel pounds Gaza brings more converts to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions cause - even among Israeli Jews. In the midst of the assault roughly 500 Israelis, dozens of them well-known artists and scholars, sent a letter to foreign ambassadors in Israel. It calls for "the adoption of immediate restrictive measures and sanctions" and draws a clear parallel with the anti-apartheid struggle. 'The boycott on South Africa was effective, but Israel is handled with kid gloves ... This international backing must stop.'"

Naomi Klein's assessment resonates with many people who are terribly upset by the injustice they see happening in Gaza. Now is the time that we should collectively act to simultaneously reject consumerism and the war in Gaza. Getting involved is easy:

First, visit the Boycott Israeli Goods website and begin actively refusing to buy any product made in Israel. You can also download a comprehensive guide of Israeli products.

And, if you have a website, you can promote this campaign by adding a small "Boycott Israel" banner to the top left of your website. To do so, put the following code anywhere on your webpage. For an example of how this looks, visit why-war.com

Do you think a boycott of Israel can end the occupation of Palestine? How can we spread this Boycott campaign more widely?

Update: The following websites have joined the Boycott Israel campaign. We will keep updating this list as more sites join!

Really? So by "they" you mean innocent men, women, and children who were killed? You're right, those children's school areas deserved to get bombed because their government sent rockets into Israel. Are you that thick?

Good news: British telecommunications firm FreedomCall has terminated its cooperation with Israel's MobileMax due to the IDF operation in Gaza. http://www.ynet.co.il/english/articles/0,7340,L-3648346,00.html Israeli farmers say much of their produce is being held in warehouses due to canceled orders, and fear a sharp decrease in fruit exports to countries such as Jordan, Britain, and the Scandinavian countries. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3656454,00.html

You say Israel is evil But your job on this earth is not to "correct evil" highly unlikely. you probably have your own "evil" selfish interests in this, just like Israel has (interests which you are very eager to admit), and the Palestinians have (interests that you will be far less willing to acknowledge in a public conversation) you claim to be pro-peace in general but you're effectively NOTHING except pro-the weakest side. why? seems like it's an attempt to prove 1) jews and arabs are equal, and therefore 2) no one side should get too strong than the other. like trying to seperate a fight between two different friends that you hold equally dear, right? But how many Israelis and Palestinians have you actually met? I'm not claiming for racial superiority. I already know that many Arabs are worthy of the highest respect. I'm just saying that pretending to care about distant conflicts is no different than pretending to care about a football game, and choosing a side or a football team is no different. Everyone enjoys those dramatic moments when the weak team defeats the stronger one. the cheering becomes stronger.. HOORAY! it's a very charming idea that every-day people could be influencing global politics by "standing up for something they know is right" but fact is, your opinion is not yours. It is implanted propaganda mixed with reactionary kick-reflex responses. Why a shitload of money is being paid on commercials still? because they work. When I see Internet people tell me either "go israel!" or "go palestine!", unless they are jews/arabs themselves, they are merely people who 1) recived their share of pro-jew propaganda or 2) recieved their share of pro-arab propaganda. you can see by their sentances that always "link" to somewhere else eventually at the top of the chain you may find the source of your "opinion" --- It was made by an important, influencial man who actually has INTERESTS (which basically boils down to - he is either 1) jew/a friend of jews or 2) arab/a friend of arabs) Your judgement is not your judgement. it has already been processed before. you're eating pre-chewn food and pretending to be the hunter. you are only left with the cold logic of sentances (or maybe numbers?) but not with any feeling or "sense" towards the original situation. you can recreate it in your mind but it is only a simulation of reality Now I'm just a kid. the few bannings will have effect on businessmen, not on me. But have you acheived something? The evil is in the numbers themselves... Ok - got that. next time if they kill 1 Israeli with rocket artillery, we will put the numbers and strengths of the army to rest... we will replicate their puny rockets and shoot a small batch of it. Wait and watch. until it killed one of theirs. If it killed 2 Palestinians by accident, however, then the next Israeli casualty will be "on the house!" and we'll not retaliate for him. To keep the fair ratio of 1to1 numbers, of course!!! try to keep this gag running in the long run. try to think the long run. Nothing will happen. Same as if we won't retaliate at all... be nice for a change! will that make them stop? no, the opposite is true - they'll just see that their strategy is working splendidly! and buy more rockets. The decisious you're trying to force on Israel are not so much more sane and healthy like what you're making them sound. The middle east is fucked over with hate on all sides. Even the innocents who die (in all sides) die with hate in them in many cases. It doesn't make their death less sad, when expressed in mere numbers, but like I said earlier, concentrating on others is never healthy, and, ultimately becomes sad. If you specifically said it's "about the numbers", than I think you might not have empathy towards neither side of this hellhole. If numbers is your thing maybe you just wanna embrace this public apperance of being "the good guy" who says everyone are equal and who count out equal allowence between all sides in a sterilized beurocratic manner. it feels good to be right. it feels good to possess superior ideologies than the rest. to know better than others oops! you might have evil-selfish-interests yourself (like the rest of the fucking world)

I am surprised to read all the hate on this board... we all read Adbusters right? Adbusters is not about hate... War in all its forms is evil. Terrorism is wrong. I will be supporting the boycott of Israeli goods because I believe that it will help bring peace to the region, a peace that will benefit both Jews and Palestinians. The Israeli's fight because they are afraid that what they are and what they have is under threat. The Pelestians fight becuase all that they had has already been taken away. Let us hope that one day peace can be stablished and Israel restored to its original borders, freeing up the land area needed for the Palestinians to have a viable state and to begin rebuilding their shattered lives. Once this is achieved I believe the presumed "ill will" that the Arab world feels for Israel will be massively reduced and that Israel will finally be able to stand amongst the world as a legitimate state. Just like it was an integral first step to healing in Australia for Kevin Rudd to apologise to our first peoples and an impotant first step for America on its road to regaining its dignity to elect a black president it is integral, VITAL, for Israels and Palestinians that Israel in a gesture of goodwill chooses to create a lasting peace by returning into Palestinian hands all the lands taken from them o'er the last 40 years.
