Suppressing Nonviolent Dissent

An anthology of police brutality at encampments across America.

Veterans assaulted with truncheons, women dragged through the streets by their hair, grandmothers pepper sprayed in the face, peaceful protestors bludgeoned while sitting. Sound like something authorities in Egypt, Tunisia or Syria would order and condone? Think again. It's happening here in the US.

I am absolutely shocked and appalled at the force being used to remove peaceful protesters from various Occupy movements across North America.

Personally, after seeing all the images of wounded protesters and video of quite obvious police brutality (especially at UC, Davis today), I no longer see any difference between the powers that be here in North America, and the tyrannous dictators around the world that our so called leaders are so quick to condemn for not allowing anti-government protests (even when the protesters are violent not peaceful). Sure our police aren't killing anyone (yet), but that's because our protests have been WAY more peaceful compared to the ones happening in Europe and the ones that happened during the so called Arab Spring.

What would happen if all the Occupy protesters started fighting as hard as those on the other side of the world did/are? We would be gunned down one by one just like they were and still are being in some places (Syria etc). If you don't beleive this, ask yourself this "If the corporate owned police will use this kind of brutality to break up peaceful human chains, and sit ins, what would happen if they weren't peaceful protests?" Answer: A bloodbath.

Yeah, and in Cuba, speaking out against the government is a capital offense. Nice work, Che.
