Suppressing Nonviolent Dissent

An anthology of police brutality at encampments across America.

Veterans assaulted with truncheons, women dragged through the streets by their hair, grandmothers pepper sprayed in the face, peaceful protestors bludgeoned while sitting. Sound like something authorities in Egypt, Tunisia or Syria would order and condone? Think again. It's happening here in the US.

Until we pay more taxes as a country and take a long term view of spending and be more active in our government the opportunists will prevail.

There should be zero DONATIONS to police or firefighters or doctors or teachers or lawyers or pharmacists and their pay as well as the life they can afford with that pay should make it unlikely that they will cheat. No matter donations are a form of tax evasion and should be illegal as a loop pole for taxpaying. Taxes are more likely to go into an established fund with public oversight and that offers consistency

As an adult who lived in foster care and then has worked in the foster care system I am tired of places such as Sleep Train using sad cute little children as a mean for PR AND for EVADING THE TAXES that they would otherwise pay with that money - money that would then go into a consistent program not a special interest dejure charity that may not be addressing the needs as would the poor underpaid professionals who work day and night 8 days a week with these children be if they had more funding. (And tha goes for the strange South Dakota Foster System irregularities within government as well).

Why people are not doing anything when cope spraying spray? I am like borke their glass of car and try to buy spray what they have and spray on them. Do it what ever they are doing??? I think that's the only option they have left.

I am absolutely shocked and appalled at the force being used to remove peaceful protesters from various Occupy movements across North America.

Personally, after seeing all the images of wounded protesters and video of quite obvious police brutality (especially at UC, Davis today), I no longer see any difference between the powers that be here in North America, and the tyrannous dictators around the world that our so called leaders are so quick to condemn for not allowing anti-government protests (even when the protesters are violent not peaceful). Sure our police aren't killing anyone (yet), but that's because our protests have been WAY more peaceful compared to the ones happening in Europe and the ones that happened during the so called Arab Spring.

What would happen if all the Occupy protesters started fighting as hard as those on the other side of the world did/are? We would be gunned down one by one just like they were and still are being in some places (Syria etc). If you don't beleive this, ask yourself this "If the corporate owned police will use this kind of brutality to break up peaceful human chains, and sit ins, what would happen if they weren't peaceful protests?" Answer: A bloodbath.
