SHAME ON CANADA!

Stephen Harper has betrayed the Canadian people by opting out of the Kyoto Protocol.

Youth activists stood up to global leaders in Durban... now can we do the same here in Canada? As Canada becomes the first country to officially announce its withdrawal from Kyoto, what will we stand up and do about this betrayal? Should we occupy Peter Kent's office? Mic check Stephen Harper wherever he goes? Let off a stink bomb in parliament?

The question needs to answered..What effective and legal tools do we really have to change what happens when the government of the day acts like our very own fascist rulers? The current government is making major decisions for the direction Canada will take with no input from the Canadian people, and outside the parliamentary process. What will make the loudest protest to a government that won't listen to the people? It's going to take more than stink bombs I am afraid. Even though it may be a perfect symbolic gesture, it will have no real effect and may alienate some people further from being onside with protesting.

As a Canadian, I'd like to point out that not only has the Conservative Harper Government signed us out of Kyoto, it also denied Opposition Party members' right to go to Durban (an unprecedented move in our history, that I know of) and that the Conservatives who went to Durban went there with the sole purpose of vandalizing any efforts to draft a new accord. Shame!

Honte!

Adbusters is struggling these days, eh. Seems like children have taken over the office and no longer see the big picture as anything more than a series of talking points.
