Occupy Econ 101

Students stage walk-out on Harvard Prof.

When a science is dying, disciples begin to refuse initiation.

This is what happened last Wednesday in the class of Harvard economics professor Gregory Mankiw, with these simple opening words: “Today, we are walking out of your class.”

The rejection of Mankiw’s class is only a single event in the class of one professor, and yet this refusal may prove to be an event with a much wider significance. Mankiw's econ 101 textbook, Principles of Economics, has made it into the minds of almost every economics student in the modern world and if the students of Mankiw can revolt, then it is possible that students everywhere can begin the task of rethinking the dysfunctional old neoclassical paradigm.

In response to the walk-out, Mankiw has only doubled down his orthodoxy, claiming that the 1% have suffered more than the 99% as a result of the recession. Now is the time for a global walk-out. Download a poster of the True Cost Economics Manifesto at kickitover.org and pin it up in the corridor of your department. Let's start an all out meme war against our neoclassical profs and begin the daunting task of ushering in a new bionomic, psychonomic, ecological economics paradigm.

Now is a good time to begin an escalation and turn the whole world into a grand economics department … to occupy it.

Probably not. Last I heard was that he was helping Obama help the moneylenders.
It is the Economists and their servitude to the moneylender that got us into this mess.
It is usury that deprives us the fruits of our labour.
Choose any example - cost of housing, cars, electricity, or what ever you are able to get data and are able to analyse.
Take for example cost of electricity. The cost of a nuclear power plant is about half moneylender's charge on in-service date. It gets amortized for 30 or 40 years, and total amount collected by the moneylender over the tears is about 4 or 5 times the cost on in-service date depending on interest rate. i.e. you pay up to 10 times the real cost of producing electricity of which about 9 go to the moneylender. Do the same calculation for your car or house. Calculation for a shirt will be a bit more difficult because the charges are a better disguised.
Do it for your wages. If the moneylender was not allowed his cut, your salary will be several times higher.
Imagine what your standard of living will be if the moneylender was outlawed?

It is time the OWS movement got focussed a published a list of demands. For example:
-Repudiate all debts
-Outlaw the moneylender
-Limit interest to a service charge proportional to the administrative effort required. It can never be more than a quarter percent or less.
- Readers to add items they identify......

Somewhat I think these people walked out because Prof. Mankiw is ranked as a conservative (he was a George W. Bush and Mitt Romney adviser), though a closer look to his teachings and ideas mark him as a Keynesian, i.e. the core ideas the OWS movement are preaching.

After leaving that class they should occupy a library.

1% You can fool some of 99% sometimes but you cannot fool all the 99% all the time

See Below the New 1% Propaganda

The video clip portrays that inequality exists however justifies it as a phenomenon which is global and its forces unknown. In Who controls the global economy this nonesense has been debunked

Who Controls Global Economy?

Research Shows Inter-connected Multi-Billion Dollar Companies are responsible for
99% loss of power and say. This is why 1% impose their values and life style on 99%.

The world is increasingly looking like Germany after the Treaty of Versailles. The Germans were reduced to beggars who licked trash from the restaurants where the 1% ate well. One generation later the youth rose in disgust, but Hitler did not limit himself to solving the German problem, he foolishly embarked on conquest of the world.
Now the 1% is again doing it, but this time the whole world is the victim. The moneylenders are now dictating national social policies, and values for their own benefit. See what is happening in Europe and will soon happen in England and the New World. While humanity is more productive than it has ever been before, our standard of living is declining fast. Overwhelming majority of our income now goes to the moneylenders, student loans, mortgages, car loans, taxes to pay the moneylender's charge on national debt and on and on. Our income is low to start with because of the moneylender's claims on our employers.
We are witnessing the birth of a worldwide movement. But it is in its infancy, and does not appear focussed. People are frustrated but do not fully understand why or what to do about it.
It is essential that intelligent moral people get involved as soon as possible and take charge, else some misguided demagogue will take over and we will be set back a few decades. Change is inevitable but some leaders will have to emerge soon to give the movement a good direction. Else there will be hell on Earth, this time it will be a worldwide conflagration that will make WWII look like a picnic.
The task is to limit moneylenders power and distribute the fruits of our labour equitably. Usury will have to be outlawed.
