Battle for the Soul of Occupy

Round #5 - Will MoveOn knock us out?

sinkers.org

As we prepare for the May uprising, two power centers of our movement have announced plans for a spectacular bi-coastal May 1st bridge blockade. On the West Coast, Occupy Oakland and Occupy San Francisco are planning rush hour disruptions on the Golden Gate Bridge while in New York City, occupiers say they will block one or more Manhattan-bound bridges. These acts of nonviolent direct action will set the tactical tone for the next phase of Occupy: they signal the turn towards Strike actions aimed at disrupting the flow of money. And, on a deeper level, these blockades come at a pivotal moment for Occupy as the movement grapples with a battle for its soul.

The question many occupiers are debating is whether the spirit and voice of Occupy will stay with the new left horizontals who launched the uprising or whether it will move towards MoveOn’s 99% Spring, and their old left buddies at The Nation magazine, Ben & Jerry’s, et al.

For the first most spectacular days of Occupy – such as on September 24 when eighty Zuccottis were arrested and shocking footage of women getting maced was replayed on national television – MoveOn ignored our movement. They decided to jump on board much later when 700 nonviolent occupiers were arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge. They saw this mass arrest as an opportunity to fold Occupy into their electoral Rebuild the Dream campaign to bolster Obama. At a time when Occupy was inspiring hundreds of thousands of people across the nation to take the squares, set up leaderless encampments and reinvent democracy in people’s assemblies, MoveOn held an October 5 online “Virtual March on Wall Street” with their friends at Rebuild the Dream.

At the peak of Occupy, when the people’s movement had catalyzed a global day of action on October 15 that saw millions of us in 82 countries rally in financial districts and capital cities for real democracy, MoveOn tried to cash in on Occupy’s momentum with a donation pitch. “We have to capitalize on this momentum now,” wrote MoveOn in an email to its members. “Can you chip in $5?”

And now, MoveOn wants to hijack our movement with their 99% Spring.

MoveOn is an existential threat to our movement because they don’t have a revolutionary bone in their body … if we give these clicktivists any more room then they will pull off a managed cooling of our revolutionary fervor … they will neuter the kind of bold, militant nonviolent direct actions that are the key to the next phase of our movement. Don’t let them do it!

Jump, jump, jump over the dead body of the old left!

When the rich tax the poor that is oppression, when the rich are taxed that is equity and support.

Remember, high progressive taxes employ loopholes that strongly incentivize the rich to do socially responsible things with money (coercive command) that they only steward. The can still do socially irresponsible things with a small percentage of their money, That's strong progressive tax code.

The Flat Tax was immediately put in place in Iraq, corporations call it "free-market prescription", when really they totally benefit more and the poor still get taxed. Fair Tax, except for those without any capital.

Oh the people without capital will be forced off lands they lived on for generations and stripped from the ability to engage in sustenance living. Taxes rob the poorest people a hundred fold vs people who can pay. Taxes are invented to serve the moneyed classes with slaves which are as highly valued as money which they have more than enough of . This practice creates a desperate class which corporations are in the business of creating for their personal use.

What administration is in power is superficial. Administrations are symbols of economic religion. The POTUS simply must push through certain acceptable economic programs or the next POTUS will. Saying it's Obamas or Romneys doing is exactly the point of there being a symbol for the New World Order (that is the Economic Doctrine). We are individuallly hung up on saying, "it is Mr. Presidents fault, the fault of the administration who we are fighting!" This is an oversimplification of the evil. We see things happening around us, all of it to protect an Economic Doctrine that is worshipped by the folks taking out of circulation 96% of the income America generates yearly. How did we get here? Economics. Not Bush. Not Obama. It is an Economic Doctrine of Shock and Awe: hit the economies of the Earth HARD and FAST, take out protests HARD and FAST, INCAPACITATE ANY ABILITY TO RESIST, make reform virtually impossible through complex designs, pass laws to increase the threat of violence through police (seeing their protectors beat them will shock the population into submission), limit academic achievement unless it encourages the Economic Doctrine of Growth, Privatization, and Imported Culture, and define Democracy as "oppressing labor organizaions, socialists, and all those who think Government is 100% responsible forensuring Civil Liberties and the General Welfare." The Economic Doctrine is not just a person or administration. It is a poison pourd into our mouths through culture. You can barely fight it. Shock and awe. So much poison, everywhere at once, most people will never notice or believe it. Profits is what they want to say when they speak of Jobs. Protect PROFIT. Not Americans. Not Conservatives. Not Freedoms. Profit.

You hit the nail on the head. We are dealing with a controlling elite that dictate reality. Then when people speak up or organize against the consequences of this contrived dictated reality, they are targeted, labeled, beat, jailed, imprisoned, and their input is declared stupid, mentally ill, and finally criminal.

When people know sane behavior and just economic behavior from invented bull shit, only then, can things change.

Right now Romney and crew are guilty of what killed the liberals in the 70s.
The single most effective political ad of all time was the one with the fat white haired male liberals piling out of their 70s Lincoln Town car in the middle of the desert on an empty highway because they ran out of gas. The car was the country. They need to redo that ad only this time with Romney and the crew barreling out of the town car. They should make sure to have a wet dog in a box on the roof.
The caption should read: These Darwin award contestants are 99 miles short of a gas station on peak oil and global warming. Are you going to let these banksters play Russian Rulette with your future- cut to Wall Streeter we are the %1 banners and Bane capital symbols.

Chicktivists? What the heck people! I've been organizing with OSF for a long time (9/22/2011) and we are losing people because of that sexist, monocultural language. You want this movement to keep its soul? De-Colonize. Get that sexist shit out of your heart before you continue fighting for the world...it's not allowed where we need to go!

Ironic how an organization named "MoveOn" is trying to take over a movement that needs to learn a lesson and Move On...to de-colonization?!?!?

We can actually revolutionize the world, when we turn ourselves into revolutionaries.

They said "clicktivists" not "chickivists." As in people that take "action" from behind a computer screen.
