Battle for the Soul of Occupy

Round #3.

In this Al Jazeera video a profound discussion emerges over the question of how Occupy should deal with the 99% Spring movement. Can we co-opt the co-opters? Should we simply ignore the 99% Spring? Or do we need a more visceral response?

Watch the video and let’s discuss how Occupy can win the battle for the soul of our movement.

I’d further suggest some other points as an afterthought. Did you really, after having someone post something in support of what “we've been saying all along”, complain, and then alienate them after you’ve supposedly been successful in your message? Let me also point out more assumption on your part in “as if it is some kind of new insight garnered through the experience of slaughtering millions of people” suggesting that this was some kind of “epiphany” suddenly obtained or from what you suggested. How do you know that I didn’t have this “epiphany” many years before you came along, before Occupy came along? Yet you felt the need to punish me for actions of a teen many years ago why? You are a prime example of hatred and how it continues dividing us as a people. Your words are prime example of why Occupy stumbles in support because of the people you alienate. Thank you for proving the very points I suggested in my original post. At least I have the courage and honor to attach a name to my posts without hiding behind anonymous.

Of further note, I was a medic. Maybe you, and others like you, would be better served in asking questions before making assumptions, and either not judging people or at least judging them on the present and not their pasts.

If you are going to sign your name along with your military exploits then you could at least have the honor to mention in some way in your posts the untold pure hell and horror your military has been putting the people of Iraq through for the last 20 years so people begin to understand what their media doesn't show them and don't just forget so we can do it all over again.

Horror equal to if not greater than that of Saddam Hussein.

Imagine having to endure 2 mass murderers at the same time , both competing to outdo each other in depvravity. Unimaginable.

Since it seems they don't want to post my replies under the account I created here for such purposes, I guess I'll keep going the anonymous route.

I'd post about something I didn't know about first hand why when I was not present during such slaughtering you suggest and did not see it first hand? You'd suggest to me there is honor in fabricating some story that I didn't witness nor see with my own eyes? You'd question my honor by suggesting I seen such things but evidently left them out? As I suggested to others, you'd be better served by asking questions than the hatred you just spewed suggesting my atonement for actions of others. Should I require such atonement from others because someone of their ethnicity, or their brother/sister strapped a bomb to themselves and blew up innocent people as well? I did what I felt was right, my civic duty, and obligation to help protect freedoms within my country, at the age of 18. As I stated elsewhere, I was a medic. I guess you failed to notice that part of my replies huh? Am I PROUD that I was a medic and saved lives? You bet I am, and if you have a problem with that, then that is YOUR issue, and not mine.

Hey James; For a peaceful site, I have never felt more negativity emanate all at once. I don't really give a rat's ass why some people here feel betrayed by what you did. It's your life for starters. You have the right to do whatever you want with it...FOR STARTERS. Aren't Occupiers fighting for individual freedoms that have been lost? And yet, here, some are criticizing you for your actions. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. As an Occupier myself, I am questioning if I am aligned with the right group at this point. I know being a selfish, greedy, fascist 1%er is not what I want from my life, but I don't see being aligned with people willing to literally insult others for their choices being the group for me either. No one asked them to do the same, or to say thanks, man...anything. But slamming you for a CHOICE...a personal choice YOU have every right to make, that's beyond the pale of logic considering this fight we're in for FREEDOM. If you chose to burn down a building, would they be praising you? As much as that was a rhetorical question, I think the answer is yes, they would and that is the sick part. If indeed they would praise such action, they do not belong with the Occupy movement. You want violence? Go piss off the cops then instead of belittling someone on OUR side. Or are you just more comfortable grandstanding and insulting from the comfort of a chair and laptop or any other electronic device that doesn't actually involve you facing the person you're slandering? There are words for people like that...one of them is chickenshit. And that James, is something you'll never know...thankfully.

Dude, I'm not a telephone customer representative at the dishnetwork.
There's no point in threatening to cancel your service here.

You are not my customer or my employer so as far as I'm concerned you can go fuck yourself. Get it?

I'm sure there are others reading that pretty much feel similar about you given your attitude and obvious issues, still hiding behind anonymous posting to spout off without honor to post as who you are. It's really easy for people to do things when they have ZERO accountability for doing them, while using the cover of anonymity to do so. Despite your obvious issues, I'd still stand by you in trying to do something about government, but I guess that's just something outside of your comprehension, realization or understanding. Once again, thank you for proving the points in my original statement above. You seem to want to be a part of the problem instead of the solution, and that is your choice, and you are welcome to it.

Nice that you still espouse honor yet still hide behind anonymous as well.

You know...that is as open minded of a reply as the shit we get from the 1%. How dare you treat someone in the same manner YOU don't want to be treated? You like it when judgment is passed on you for your decisions? Or do you manage to justify those? So not cool or mature. Yeah, go ahead and make the comment that it's a free country and you can say anything you want. Because that's all you have as a retort. And if it were a free country, it wouldn't be this expensive to get ahead...in other words...save that argument. And if it were a free country, us Occupiers wouldn't be getting arrested. Right now, it's a stupid country and with your comment, you've added to that inane dialogue.
