Anonymous Joins #OCCUPYWALLSTREET

"Wall Street, Expect Us!" says video communique.

Jammers, dreamers, patriots,

Anonymous has just released a video communique endorsing #OCCUPYWALLSTREET. Using language from our first Tactical Briefing, the video calls on protesters to adopt the nonviolent Tahrir-acampadas model. On the 17th of September, it says, "flood into lower Manhattan, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy Wall Street for a few months … Once there, we shall incessantly repeat one simple demand in a plurality of voices."

See also signs of support for S17 on Anonymous's Twitter and websites.

Meanwhile S17 is surging ahead internationally. Simultaneous occupations of financial districts are now being planned in New York City, Madrid, Milan, London, Paris and San Francisco. With a bit of luck, this list of participating cities will expand.

If we can pull together just the right mix of nonviolence, tenacity and strategic smarts, S17 could be the beginning of the global revolution we've all been dreaming about for so long … wouldn't that be lovely.

for the wild,

I'm confused how anyone can occupy anything. There has also been a call for the unemployed to walk on DC. How can they when they are unemployed? How can anyone occupy a public space when they have bills to pay, children to take care of and a job to hold down?

It is lofty goal to think that Wallstreet will give a damn. They will walk by you and continue trading the natural resources of this planet away and think of anyone in a tent as a dirty hippie.

I believe the only way to truly protest wall street is to DDoS it. Bring it down by means of digital bodies protesting. Just a thought since Anonymous seems on board now. People have no time to occupy anything but their own lives. To try and survive. This is how the system has been set up. We can't act. We can't protest physically because physically we have our overburdened household budgets to maintain.

The reason you all will be seen as hippies (which to some is not a bad thing) is that you won't be wearing American flags all over yourselves and your RVs and Hogs. You will most likely be college educated. (big generalization but nonetheless most likely true). You will most likely be liberal in your leanings if not anarchist.

The reason the tea party has seemed to had have some success in strangling the U.S. GOP is that they have been disguised as patriots. What disguise will you take as you occupy Wallstreet? Remember, to Congress we already have freedom.

I'd change the slogan to Corporations are not People. Or something that will resonate to people who already believe America is free and has more freedom than some think it should. Corporations are the enemy.

Wrap yourselves in American flags I say if you are going to demand freedom from corporations. Take off the Anonymous masks. Just some thoughts. I hope it helps. Your first comment is spam by the way. I'm sure you can bulk up your spam filter somehow. cheers... bk www.byronking.com

your analysis implies protest is useless because people have individual and family responsibilities. Revolution and social change will always need sacrifice. History does not stop because of children or domestic bills

..."History does not stop because of children or domestic bills.."
Amen.

Byron- you seem to be kind of on this side of things.. so why talk the rest of us out of trying just because the system got the best of you and your time?
I am Free, Only because I have chosen to live differently than the system expects of me (I do have the freedom to do that), and have been blessed enough to manage debt both on my own and with the help of my family.. I am blessed in this respect.. I myself am not held back by much of the things that people like yourself are.. so, with that in mind- shouldnt people like me, people without a ball and chain, go out and at least try to stand up for the people like you who feel you cannot? Maybe nothing will change right away- or even becuase of the occupation, but EVERYTHING changes eventually and NOTHING is forever, but NOTHING will EVER Change if we don't at least try.

Right on! History doesn't stop. Yours is the most empathetic, enlightened response I have read so far. You didn't fault find, you stayed positive, you supported the other, even as you disagreed with their position and you are planning on acting in alignment with your own beliefs. With people like you in the forefront, especially if we keep committed to non-violent protest with our bodies, minds and hearts on the line, there is no way we can be thwarted from our ultimate goal of holding the immoral asset strippers accountable and re-establishing a more just, sustainable paradigm. 'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has- Margaret Mead. Best wishes to us all (I can't wait) minnow.

Thank you minnow,

All we can do is support eachother and work together towards our new paradigm. We have enough stiffling us.. why divide further?! Its up to those willing to fight to change the world for those who cannot. (I can't wait either)
