It might not surprise you to learn that reactions to shopdropping or droplifting vary as much as approaches to it and reasons for doing it.

This could have been funny, but it wasn't. None of the stickers were even mildly amusing, much less thought-provoking. I agree with the others: This didn't make a point about consumerism, it merely annoyed a few store employees.

This is one of the most stupid things I've seen! What a waste of time, energy and resources!! And the only thing you did was annoy and confuse people. Completely pointless. What exactly does a sticker reading absorbs wetness on a cornflake box prove. That you are idiots maybe?

I agree with a good portion of these comments. However, if you do feel the need to do this - then why not do it right? Why not really play a mind game. Rather than a plain, boring sticker obviously placed there, create an entire false label with all kinds of subversive adspeak all over it - just different enough so the person might not even be able to tell until the product is in their own fridge or on their own shelf. I think that would be more effective anyway - if this is going to be effective at all.

The concept is a great idea, but perhaps the messages on the stickers need to be stronger or better worded. Like bringing attention to the level of pay the worker who collects the coffee beans actually gets paid for the product, or some facts about the way meat is treated so it looks fresh. Educating the consumers is better than confusing them. But re-doing some of the labels so they don't have the advertising brand or message would be interesting to see done in a test environment. (from a consumer choice perspective) Would people recognise and select lets say a cola if the colours were the same on the bottle but the branding was gone? Perhaps not. And that in itself does say a lot about consumer culture.
