From agrarian society to one that produces intellectual property. The Irish finally had something to hang their collective hat on. The EU support gave them the opportunity to create new ways to produce wealth. It's sad to see all their hard work destroyed in so little time. I sincerely hope they find their way out of this mess along with the rest of us!

No chance. The government used to the boom time to greatly enrich themselves and their cronies many times over. Now we are in recession the government refuses to budge on the large salaries, expenses and perks as a result of that enrichment. We got a new government last year. It turns out that the New Government is the same as the Old Government, just wearing different ties.

I should have qualified my statement. IF the government had not raided the money for their own benefit the prosperity would still be with the country today. I watched with great interest during the heady days of economic progress in Ireland. It seemed so inspiring but now simply depressing. How does a government, any government, explain their actions against their own people? Dodge and weave only works for so long. Once again the Irish get kicked down the road but then again we are all suffering from the same arrogant political domination. Seriously, it's very hard for me to write this stuff without ripping off a few F bombs!!!
