My (public) Space

Previously featured in the Adbusters blogs, New York street artist Jordan Seiler is profiled in this short film about the group Public Ad Campaign. A must watch for anyone interested in reclaiming their own streets from illegal billboards.

Definately the kind of person/people we need in office. I hope he runs one day and really starts changing shit. Bravo!

I agree with HEFLOOD. Where I live, putting up a poster in a school causes arguments. So even though it is NY, it was way too much for me. Some places do not need ads, especially liscence plates (look it up).

Interesting, but it's not just the visual in public space that affects our social psychology, as he put it. There's also other stimuli, like sound ... and smoke.

I'd like to reclaim my public space from smokers, and because that's a primary health issue (where second-hand smoke may give you cancer, while advertising may corrupt social values) for me, I'm less likely to listen to his ideas on how public space should be used.

Thumbs up on adbusting; thumbs down on choosing someone to represent the interests of socially healthy use of public space.
