Breaking Egypt's Fear Barrier

Everyday people are taking to the streets regardless of the consequences.

"People’s standard of living is—has taken a real battering. And people don’t want to risk what they’ve got for them and their families by going out and confronting the regime. That’s really been the status quo for the past few years. And yet, what we’ve seen on Tuesday and Wednesday is that that fear barrier seems to have been broken. … These are sort of middle-class people who are generally enjoying quite a comfortable standard of living; they’re not on the poverty line. They’ve got a lot to lose, and yet they’re still being motivated to come out, to be beaten, to be hit by water cannons, to be carried off into the desert. And that’s really a remarkable change from what we’ve seen over the past few years."

Did... did you just say that a miniscule percentage of Americans live below the poverty line? Have you seen the recent poverty line? Have you seen the unemployment numbers? Look up how they calculate unemployment numbers; you can see that whatever the percent is, you can increase it by at least 5%. (10% of Oregonians unemployed? Try 15%, if not more.) The internet is so cheap and pervasive, especially with many MANY third world nations having unlimited internet cafes, many people in third world regimes ALSO complain over the internet. America has pulled the wool over our eyes and made us THINK we have it good. All the while the big boys in Washington wreak destruction in so. many. other. countries. Sure we have luxuries. But we tolerate a government that shits on the rest of the world. THAT'S why we need to revolt.

The American populace is the wife in the big ugly house full of expensive JUNK we don't need, and the United States is our philandering and dominating, yet charming, husband. We just keep taking him back because we're too scared to leave the gated community and see what else is possible.

I'd much, MUCH rather have my Gap, Sony, Red Box, It's A Grind Coffee, Whole Foods, XM radio and paved roads.

I suspect tens of millions of other Americans feel the same.

I don't know what people in this country are waiting for?If there really is 15% unemployment that's only 5% less than over there.People who are rich could maybe help the situation here. But they don't .They just want to be richer. But I think everyone knows that not everyone can have a job.I also think that 10 percent unemployment might be a concert standard.Except for Entrepreneurlism for 20 years to come.Run the numbers.(If you make more than 50'000 a year and your helping know one you should be thrown off a building.)I think everyone should make at least 50'000 or there will be no economey.
