Yes but many critics of Israel ARE anti-Semitic, as is evidenced by an obsessive mono focus on Israel and all its real and imaginary transgressions, while far bigger serial human rights abusers like, for example, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Iran ( regular executions, ruthless reoression of the Bahai, fundamentalist dictatorship, supression of the press, expressed desire to ethnically cleanse Israel of its Jewish inhabitants), China (Tibet, the internet, etc), Turky (ruthless supresion of the Kurds), Burma are completely ignored - which indicate an irrational resentment underlies a proportion, if not all of the Israel bashing movemnet. I'm a great supporter of Adbusters anti mindless consumerism work, but not of an obsessive and "source-of-all-evil" approach to Israel. Check out my blog Just A Little Green which focuses on issues of sustainability, consumption and the psychology of sustainable choices.

Well, Mano, you can't literally say (as you do) that Sudan, Zimbabwe, Iran, China, Turky or Burma "are completely ignored". This is just not true.

You're completely right in terms of maintaining an "not-the-source-of-all-evil" approach to Israel. We should be aware of an anti-semitic kind of critic and reveal it as such. No doubt about it.

And we should also keep in mind that, still, it always has to be possible to criticize states and governements and the illusion of "nationality" - and that goes for Israel, too.
