The Logic of Not Demanding

The Tea Party protests are shaking things up in conservative politics. But what have we dissenters from the left accomplished recently? Not much. We fill the streets, wave our signs and choke on some tear gas. Black bloc anarchists smash a few windows and pull off some daring stunts, but then the 24-hour news cycle moves on and we’re left feeling empty. Nothing has changed.

In a perverse way our protests may actually be reinforcing and validating the global consumerist regime. I sincerely believe that the G20 Summit leaders and organizers sigh with relief when they hear that we are once again mobilizing massive protests against them. After all, what would a successful economic summit be without thousands of angry protesters clashing with rows of automaton riot police and a few cop cars burning in the streets? Without sporadic spectacles like that, capitalism would lose its dynamic spark.

Maybe it’s time we deny them their regularly scheduled spectacles and try something new.

Next time they call an economic summit, why don’t we just ignore them? Instead of massive displays of anger, let’s give them eerily empty streets … silence … not a peep … nothing to validate their billion dollar security budgets. We refuse to react, refuse to engage, refuse to make demands. We don’t tell them what we want because they already know what we want: We want their system to die. Why make demands of the thing you want to destroy? Negotiating only grants legitimacy and continuity.

Instead we live like cats on the prowl, pulling off little acts of rebellion that frustrate their doomsday machine at every turn. Acts like cutting up our credit cards, moving our money, buying locally and spreading revolutionary memes. We meet in little groups in local indie coffee shops plotting audacious pranks and acts of civil disobedience: slowing traffic, liberating billboards, detonating stink bombs – crazy, random acts that hurt the bottom line.

Every day of the week we create weird, wild, wonderful happenings wherever we live around the globe. And we grow bolder with every 0.001 C˚ rise in the global temperature … more passionate with every 0.001 inch rise in the sea level … more defiant with every billion dollar Goldman Sachs bonus package. We attack capitalism – not at officially sanctioned protests – but like bees attacking a wounded beast with a billion incessant stings. We keep escalating our actions until the cost of doing business as usual becomes impossible to bear. And the bloodied beast finally falls to its knees.

This November’s Carnival is a good time to start: Let them have their conferences and summits … we will have our revolution of everyday life.

Will this be effective? What other new strategies can we employ to disrupt the status quo? Find activists near you and plan something for the Carnivalesque Rebellion Nov. 22–28.

If any of you do not know about the Federal reserve system and how it works, I highly recommend watching videos by the Zeitgeist movement or to read the Web of Debt by ellen brown.

Rise in temperature? Rise in sea level? Are you blaming the 'system' for causing global warming? Fantasize about a matriarchal, Gaia worshiping utopia much? You do know that anthropogenic (human caused) global warming is still an unproven theory right? Did you read the climate gate emails that gave clear evidence of weather data manipulation in support of the IPCC's unscientific 'consensus'?

I suppose your solution to the these problems includes carbon caps and taxes and credit trading schemes, just what the Rothschild, Morgan, Warburg, Rockefeller interests ordered. Is this your solution to evil capitalism? Towing the propaganda of the elites? I hope you don't feel guilty about your carbon footprint, because I can guarantee you that Gore, who is ready to make billions off of this great lie, does not.

You act like the answer to this monstrous corporate, military, banking complex is doing everything we can to hurt the bottom line. Well, I hate capitalism too, but I can't think of a better system I'd like to implement at the moment, and most people I know happen to depend on the bottom line for food, shelter, clothing and employment. My guess is you didn't grow up in the projects, otherwise you might have a different view towards changing our economic system. I still believe in a free market, problem is, we don't have one. You know, derivatives, credit default swaps, monopolies, debt-based fiat currency, no-bid contracts, government bailouts, quantative easing, ect. ect.

Black bloc anarchists smashing windows is what we need to stop during the next G20, this IS exactly what they want us to do. So they can point the finger at bunch of destructive idiots who have no answers to the problem, except 'destroy it all!' I expect few of them are family men. Maybe instead of blaming capitalism and 'global warming' (OMG we're all gonna die!) for all of our current woes, maybe we could point the finger at the ACTUAL causes of the current financial crises and endless wars for profit.

The Federal Reserve, Rothschild banking empire, military-industrial complex, globalist elite, Royal Institute for International Affairs, Committee of 300, Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Comission, Bilderberger, world order pulling the strings of every opposing Tea Party, leftist, useful idiot, corralling them in a direction that in reality poses no threat to the establishment, but gives them ever more reason to crack down on the dangerous crazies. God I'm sick of retards who live in their own little feel-good fantasy world where actions have no consequences!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
You actually have some very good points here and I would be interested to hear more about your federal reserve theories, but seriously? SERIOUSLY?
You CANT be as educated as you sound and really believe global warming is still a myth. That was a joke I gather and a good one friend.

Speaking of being educated, your reply looks like a teenager's.
But seriously, SERIOUSLY, he's right.
There is manipulated science all around us. And if you think that there isn't, you are naive.

Another tacit to continue protest might be to simply gather in a city other than the host city. They can waste their resources building up the police in Toronto meanwhile we are gathering in Buffalo or Brenton Woods.
