Flag Description:

I’m from a minority nation submitted to a flag that I don’t feel, but they say it has to be mine. With this the concept of a meaningful flag changes completely and becomes a symbol of oppression. Because of this, I don’t like flags in general. For this reason the idea of creating one was personally very challenging. A flag for the idea of global citizenship, free from any establishment or language. First I thought that a flag can’t achieve this project. It has too much symbolism in itself. It shouldn’t be a flag. But maybe, it should be a flag that doesn’t need to be a flag. It needs to be a kind of spirit that people all over the world know and understand in their own way.

You can have a minority within a nation but this phrase is completely meaningless - eerily similar to this flag campaign. You don't "feel" your flag? Ah - perhaps you mean that you or your family has immigrated to a country and you're a minority there? You know what? That flag is the flag of the country where you live - if you really don't like it that much then GO HOME or GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. If you don't want to leave, then stop whining and be a man. This entire campaign - like this site - seems very much like a grade 8 social studies project. Fanciful and dreamy with no connection to reality. I hate to disappoint all of you but you'll have to come to the realization some day that there is no global citizenship. The shifting sand that is your post-modern, eco-hipster, urban-chic philosophy of teen-angst will become very obsolete just like the latest iPod that you love to hate. Grow up.

On the other hand, it's just a mundane image. It lacks intensity and a sense of unifying purpose for people to rally behind. People can just as easily march against one another beneath the same sky as they can march together. Nor is the image reproducible on a smaller scale. Turn it into a patch to go on a backpack and you've got some little blue and white splotches.
