Hot Romney vs. Cool Obama
“The Medium is the Message” – Marshall McLuhan
During the first televised presidential debate in 1960, Richard M. Nixon faltered, and lost to John F. Kennedy. McLuhan attributed Nixon's failure to an incompatibility of personage with media: Nixon was a “hot” person in a “cool” medium. Kennedy won because he was “cool” – reflecting the cool, calm and detached qualities which are essential to the televisual medium, according to McLuhan. In this election, as with earlier ones, the Medium is the message...on TV, the cool always wins.

It's a good point. Obama will win because he is able to speak to an audience without looking like a nervous wreck.

Why should one watch a debate between an incumbent who was not even able to close down Guantanamo and a master of tax avoidance. All we´ll hear is a collection of standard hollow phrases.

This is hilarious. Obama got mauled! The next debate is not even fair. Paul Ryan vs. Joe Biden? Biden can't help himself from saying stupid things when he isn't debating!
