Tactical Briefing #25
Hey you redeemers, rebels and radicals out there,
Against the backdrop of a global uprising that is simmering in dozens of countries and thousands of cities and towns, the G8 and NATO will hold a rare simultaneous summit in Chicago this May. The world’s military and political elites, heads of state, 7,500 officials from 80 nations, and more than 2,500 journalists will be there.
And so will we.
On May 1, 50,000 people from all over the world will flock to Chicago, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and #OCCUPYCHICAGO for a month. With a bit of luck, we’ll pull off the biggest multinational occupation of a summit meeting the world has ever seen.
And this time around we’re not going to put up with the kind of police repression that happened during the Democratic National Convention protests in Chicago, 1968 … nor will we abide by any phony restrictions the City of Chicago may want to impose on our first amendment rights. We’ll go there with our heads held high and assemble for a month-long people’s summit … we’ll march and chant and sing and shout and exercise our right to tell our elected representatives what we want … the constitution will be our guide.
And when the G8 and NATO meet behind closed doors on May 19, we’ll be ready with our demands: a Robin Hood Tax … a ban on high frequency ‘flash’ trading … a binding climate change accord … a three strikes and you’re out law for corporate criminals … an all out initiative for a nuclear-free Middle East … whatever we decide in our general assemblies and in our global internet brainstorm – we the people will set the agenda for the next few years and demand our leaders carry it out.
And if they don’t listen … if they ignore us and put our demands on the back burner like they’ve done so many times before … then, with Gandhian ferocity, we’ll flashmob the streets, shut down stock exchanges, campuses, corporate headquarters and cities across the globe … we’ll make the price of doing business as usual too much to bear.
Jammers, pack your tents, muster up your courage and prepare for a big bang in Chicago this Spring. If we don’t stand up now and fight now for a different kind of future we may not have much of a future … so let’s live without dead time for a month in May and see what happens …
for the wild,

USA was founded on protest & revolution.
Occupy is democracy.
U are free to stay silent while we
practice our 1st Amendment Rights.
A better world is possible.
1% owns 43%
19% owns 20%
80% owns 7%
The past 35 years, 80% of
new income went to the 1%
A % of all of our salaries gets funneled into the pockets of the 1%
(instead of serving our local communities).
We inherited this unfair society. Time to evolve.

1% own 43%? Then why don't the 80% buy some of the 43% from the 1%?
Oh, I see.
Here, I have a solution then.
1. Get a real job.
2. Save your money.
3. Buy some of the 43%.
What, you think the 1% is just gonna give it to you?
That's not what our country was founded on.
Your parents should have instilled some sense of right in you, not the right for things to be given to you.

Couldn't agree more. I'm 45 years old. Came from the 99%. Had nothing. Went to a state university while working full time. No "on-campus" living. Worked tirelessly, and many twelve hour days on my career from a minimum wage job to an executive within in my field. Took twenty years. Moved several times around the US to advance myself. Now I'm proud to say I'm in the top 2%.
I pay my taxes. I donate to charity. I keep this economy moving. AND I'LL BE DAMMED IF I'M GOING TO GIVE THIS UP FOR SOME LAZY-ASS COMMIE-SOCIALST WHO BELIEVES IN ASSET DISTRIBUTION.
That's the problem with the "video game" generation. Poor parenting and a self entitlement!

It seems to me you are no better than the "video game" generation as you haven't bothered to read or understand Occupy but are falling back on old "America Love it or Leave it" stereotypes and slogans. Of course you would if you really are making the money you do. But it's Not All About You. If America collapses because there isn't enough money jobs and food to go around, that will impact you as well.
Everything you have depends on everyone else. You can't exist in a vacuum. You couldn't have earned anything without other people and luck. If you act selfish you are responsible for the misery.

You're entitled to your opinion and lifestyle. However, venturing into a forum of discussion you disagree with for the sake of boosting your ego and going into a fit of childish name-calling won't do anything but make you look desperate and stupid.
Congratulations, you've strengthened the resolve of #OCCUPY. Go whine somewhere else.

Yeah you're probably right about our generation. My Mom and Dad were too busy working 70+ hours a week, watching sitcoms, repressing their unhappiness with prozac/alcohol, and trying to buy more new stuff than the neighbors. It's not about us not wanting to work, its not about us being upset about our school loans, its not about our lack of responsibility, its about cold, hard, refreshing nihilism. That's what our generation learned from growing up in your households. Capitalism has absolutely destroyed everything that's ever meant anything to anyone ever. Now its time for us to return the favor, and destroy capitalism. I don't want to live in a world where wealth is distributed more evenly, I want to live in a world where wealth doesn't exist because providing oneself with basic necessities will consume my life. The same type of world humans lived in for thousands of years.
Don't resent us asshole because a lot of people were out having fun and enjoying their life while you were working for some unattainable goal. I am proud that you accomplished the thing that society really wanted you to, and I'm sure you've definitely made up for all that lost youth with the money you have now. Pat on the Back!
I'll try and remember that when I'm in Chicago senselessly destroying as much stuff as possible, with no positive intentions whatsoever. It'll be just like a video game, the more useless shit I destroy, the higher my score. A lot of my favorite video games are the ones that take place in post-apocalyptic settings. I look forward to making that world a reality.

Frankly, for the first time in my life I wish the Feds would take you anarchists away and give you a one way ticket to your favorite other country of choice. Don't mess with this country folks. The Japanese, after their sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, realized the incredible danger of attacking our homeland. As long as the 2nd Amendment exists, anyone who chooses to attack us from within, ought to heed the cautionary tale from World War II Japanese high command...behind every blade of grass is an Americna who will defend this country against your ilk no matter what...

1. You know that story is untrue, right?
and,
2. Threatening protesters with violence is real classy.
