TACTICAL BRIEFING #19
Hey jammers, dreamers, believers,
Here is a testimony from the streets of New York:
Lost my stuff, including power cord for my laptop, in the raid, something or someone cleared out my bank account, and it's raining. I could just write a country song. I'll tell you this: the resolve is still here. People I talk to are a healthy mixture of rage, comedy, resolve, and excitement. Also exhaustion. Maybe the raid was the best thing that could happen? I worry about the inevitable suffering that will occur in the cold now, and how it will be used to clear any encampment again. But there must be something like a people's library and kitchen. A physical heart. More soon. Must find money and charge my phone. Winning at last, winning at last, thank God Almighty, we are winning at last…
Our movement is living through an existential, make-or-break moment.
This is a tactical way of looking at it:
When Tunisia rose up, Ben Ali scoffed … when young people occupied Tahrir Square, Mubarak resorted to paternalism and then mob violence … in Syria, Assad's troops fire daily into the crowds. And on Tuesday, a military style assault on Zuccotti Park – news blackouts, tear gas, closed airspace, an LRAD "sound cannon" – was carried out in the dead of night to take out our movement's spiritual home.
For many weeks we had a kind of magic going for us … we held the high ground … we stuck doggedly to our Gandhian ways and blindsided the cynical world with our optimism, our camaraderie, our nonviolence, our determination to forge a different kind of future. With nothing more than twinkling fingers, mic checks, mutual respect, and hope for the future, we sparked a global democracy moment the likes of which the world had not seen since 1968.
But New York's billionaire Mayor decided to snuff us out. We wanted a Tahrir Moment, an American Spring, and he attacked us in the middle of the night while we slept. These kinds of attacks on peaceful protestors did not work in Tunisia, not in Egypt, they are not working in Syria right now, and – wake up Bloomberg & Co! – they are not going to work in America either.
This assault has stiffened our resolve. Now begins the second, visceral, canny, militant phase of our nonviolent march to real democracy. We regroup, lick our wounds and begin our counterattack as early as tomorrow.
We will turn this winter into a training ground for precision disruptions – flashmobs, stink bombs, edgy theatrics – against the megacorps and the unrepentant 1%, a festival of resistance in the snow with, or without, an encampment that'll lay the tactical foundation for our Spring Offensive.
The bottom line is this … you cannot attack your young and get away with it!
for the wild,
Culture Jammers HQ

A little update on how the "Spirit of Tahrir Square" is working out for the Egyptians:
"Nothing we revolted for has happened. Emergency law is still not canceled. People are being taken out of their homes. Our demands have remained the same except they've become more," she said. "We just want democracy and freedom. The people with opinions are all in prisons."

Harold in Maryland
I applaud your efforts.
I do not agree with everything I hear. For instance, I believe peoples rights should be protected by constitutional law, not democracy vote. And I think the real problem with wealth is government and banks, not rich and corporations.
That said, good luck to you, and stand up for your beliefs!

What follows are guesses about what demands might look like.
The Crime
Even if they are to remain in the background out of the lime light we need strong liberals like John Lennon and we have them. We need to recognize the opposition in people like Bloomberg, the Kochs or Norquist or Cantor. In particular, it should start to become apparent that from the selection of Bush through 911 to bubble and collapse it's a Norquist inspired scam culminating in austerity or an impoverishment push that needs to be put down decisively and condemned in broad daylight for what it is- an orgy of theft. The billionaires, rent seeking or otherwise as a group are an offense, if we've got poverty we can't afford them and they shouldn't be able to hide behind the celebrity of an occasional loss leader.
Wall Street
Full outright employee ownership of all or most large firms with work sharing paid for by redistribution from the 1% as an initial step. See economists Richard Wolff's work there is still room to incentivize founders. End corporate citizenship because it dilutes actual citizenship. We need to measure firms performance by the product and not by profit. We need to get rid of the BS that says for-profit firms need to make a profit as it if were a moral imperative, they don't need profit they only need taxable income after paying creditors and staff nothing really need be left over for stock market gamblers- too often they are like a useless credit cards that can't be paid off. There are new ways to slice the pie. Divest the DJIA 30, although these should be outright owned by their employees no one has any business owning stock in them at the moment- make sure their management goes without bonuses. If the useless DJIA goes to zero it will stop being put in front of every sponsored news cast as if it mattered and will leave room for meaningful measures. We need "true cost" products, and zero waste supply lines. No more of capitalism's 13 trucks of waste per truck of product.
Along with ending needless speculation and bringing back Glass Stiegel and bringing back the prosecution of bankers, get rid of mid cap and large cap mutual funds that shower layer after layer of the pubic-money on nonresponsive large firms allowing them to be totally unaccountable under the corporate welfare shower. We need to stop subsidizing these large firms especially after their CEOs converted their employees paid for retirements to their own gain (see retirement heist.) Make rent seeking and puffing illegal. Force firms to prioritize for product (really employee first) or tax the hell out of them and put them at a serious competitive disadvantage. Bring back anti-trust
Work
Living wages in dignified jobs that make an actual contribution. See Russ Roberts conversation with Daniel Pink where they talk about turning a crank that isn't connected to anything. Also Jeremy Rifken's work "The End of Work." We need to be able to raise our own children and not go into debt paying others to do it so we can go to prisons called jobs. We need to be able to telecommute as a right to get away from inane corporate supervision mentality and to harden communities and reduce time spent in traffic with gas wasted, growing a back problem with the AM radio dial staring at us. If we go to hell full time every week it can't be expected that PTSD won't bleed into the family and create dysfunction. 27 hours was intended under the original SLS act as full time and that finally needs to be needs to be honored. We need to index all minimum wages in the country to the CPI or inflation just like Washington State, we need to harness the good side of our Federalism. Make labor law the highest law. We need tough rules that in any situation give a worker the benefit of contract, hourly, salary whichever is the most advantageous to the worker. If critical areas fail because of this then nationalize them. Trigger heavy penalties for going over- 1 minute over should be double time for all hours worked that day. 1 minute over 40 hrs per week should be quadruple time. Bring back a true measure of the negative income tax to supplement social security or even better the Guaranteed Annual Income of Clark, Heilbroner and Oppenheimer. If on the average day more minutes are spent doing something you would rather not with no end in sight you are becoming involuntary and slipping into learned helplessness, its wage slavery and a theft of life. Firms do every bit of nonsense they can like no longer paying the lunch hour to drive people into that spot and behind it as an absolutely psychopathic criminal mentality. People selling their time might as well be selling their blood its worse than prostitution, especially with so much automation and the uselessness of it where the crank isn't connected to anything and there is a felt lack of necessity and inanity. It feels like ornamentation but to add insult to injury you have the Walmarts that won't let people have two days off back to back because they want people to feel like dehumanized property and want to create a sense of lordly privilege. This needs to be smashed and prosecuted- remember Wallmart locking people in overnight despite the fire hazard because of inventory control.
Go after management culture and stuff like work performance evaluations. Firms using these should be paying much higher taxes. The only people that should be rated that way and supervised in that way are the management who should get a public anonymous feedback once or twice per year on the experience of employees working at the firm. Employees should be able to telecommute at their option. Constant supervision and interruption should be considered a form of criminal abuse. Even at works employees should have privacy.
Budget Narrative
In budget talks refuse to allow opponents to include safety net transfer payments in the formal size of government and force any talk of change to redistribution to include even greater changes to distribution in the form of higher wages and more total ownership of corporations for workers and the removal of corporate management, boards, and private stock holders. The wealthy stock holder class needs to be pushed into retirement. Any time they bring up re-distribution which is what they consider all government but the safety net in particular and anything that gives people any security and dignity we need to bring up distribution in the most hardcore way possible: just because accident placed some tools in your hand doesn't mean I do all the work and absorb all loss and risk and accept no opportunity and you take all the gain- it means something radically different starting today- it means I have my own tools tomorrow and you can learn to wipe. Disincentivize greed with truly progressive taxation see Neil Gabler's article "Disincentivizing Greed"
It's also time that we started taxing rich people and corporations in the traditional ways. We can as Roosevelt did either pass income limits or accept the almost %95 top tax bracket the rich offered instead as a compromise. The rich can bargain to keep some assets for their own by being responsible with money. No more constant use of debt. We do not need an ultra-growth orientation we can look at some more environmentally friendly steady state type options that don't require as much of a debt and inflation basis. We can do public banking to augment the treasury as Ben Franklin did in Pennsylvania and we can stop paying the broker fees on minting monies and issuing T-Bills. We are a built out economy facing a hemisphere's worth of people in non-built out economies. We have a pie slicing problem brought on by automation and trade displacement. We also have an ignorant elite that doesn't understand redistribution justifies its existence and has begged the question of distribution instead of recognizing that everyday people built this economy and this infrastructure and this state and that is composed of everyday people for the benefit of everyday people and at the very least they have a stronger inheritance claim on it.
Useful Measures
Shift emphasis off of GDP. The core measure needs to be fuller quality of life measures for the 99% . Largely eliminate focus on stock market, profit and GNP as measures. We've seen these traditional measures don't work when there is 20% real wages and shrinking quality of life and the traditional measures or all at records right after a crisis. As Richard Wolff points out we are facing a disconnect between GNP and standard of living where we will work more and more for less and less without limit. Increasing GNP will drive a lower standard of living with the right calling for people to take two jobs each for half the pay until we are back to their good old days working close to 500 hours a month for an adjusted $3 per hour. Lock credit card rates into no more than double inflation and bring back meaningful bankruptcy proceedings and rules on all credit.
Speech
How funny that people like Boomberg think they can censor protestors by denying them mega phones etc. but think people should be bombarded endlesslly with commercial noise- don't talk on a the phone while driving you might miss a bill board but do let us hit you with a sonic LRAD cannon.
End money as speech because it forms the basis for not only blackmailing over capital flight but commercial speech which needs to be limited so that profit is not made for distracting people literally into death while driving from bill boards or used to fuel sponsorship (aggregate censorship) to make lobbying possible. Commercial speech forms a filter. Strict limits of drown- -us-out commercial speech and deconsolidation and break up of media firms like Clear Channel and telecom like AT&T is needed. Use the new technologies that can eliminate product information dissemination costs while providing an ad free internet with elements like ad free search. Look up what search technology coupled with general subscription can do to unlock the content universe in an ad free privacy protected anonymous bundled way while transforming and truly limiting avenues for negative commercial speech. Follow Justice Brandeis in his work on limiting commercial speech- all rights derive from privacy and so much of commercial speech as presently practiced is a theft of time and attention- people pay to increase the time pressure and disease causing stress in their lives i.e., paying for cable TV while being force fed hours of commercial speech daily that drives the demand creation environment killing rent seeking side of the economy. End the addiction to junk media- children should have a chance against this.
Investigate the RIAA for crimes and pursue prosecution to the limit. Eliminate the notion of rights holders and any wrongful concept of balance in this regard; the public is the 'rights holder' and the reason for the existence of the market and its outright owner. Get rid of any statute of limitations bar on the crimes of the RIAA- ex post facto- too damn bad this is a revolution with justice snapping back awake.
Enshrine net neutrality as free speech and part of any constitution, it's really a codification of the
whole spirit behind the constitution, having a voice means we have a share of the power and will not therefore be subject economically- Justice Breyer has spoken on power sharing as the key to the constitution and its core this is what Neutrality does, gives people a voice and share of he power.
Change log in procedures for general services on the internet to be vague to allow for reasonable anonymity and a culture of plausible deniability for every day citizens and strong privacy to allow for better horizantalism and more honest discourse. Make it a crime to collect information on people for sale later. Make it a crime to do what Facebook did with games on people's privacy. If it's unethical and immoral and truly damaging it needs to be considered for criminal sanction- juries, judges and lawyers can help tease that apart as before but crime especially white collar crime that economically drives blue collar crime needs to have a high price. Keeping anonymity and a functional internet will be the end of sponsorship (censorship) driven society.
Energy
Stop oil subsidies. Tax oil companies to fund Green technologies and push back on media miss-information campaigns like Solyndra- we are supposed to see that as a scandal when firms like BP get oil subsidies or don't pay a fraction of what they should for mineral rights? Create home based power production decentralized power. It doesn't matter if the Trilat thinks that energy, transport and agriculture are the way to control things no more fraud around energy. From climate denial to OPEC embargo after which our firms were allowed to make a profit because they were obviously complicit or Enron or Iraq enough scams around energy. Decentralize so firms can't create addiction style crises to get at the equivalent of arbitrage style results.
Also let us get over the idiocy that says we can't stop firms from passing along costs. We most assuredly can. If rich people want to run they can pay high percentage based exit fee. It's true that planned economies haven't worked that well so far and that Nixon's experiment with price fixing didn't go so well but the CA auto insurance market went beautifully after regulation stepped in to limit useless profit and insure much higher service at much lower costs. These insurance firms should not be allowed to be in the investment business. They should not be allowed to invest in anything but the highest grade bonds it doesn't matter if capital rots what matters is people having access to low cost coverage.
Health & Social Contract
Single Payer healthcare like the rest of the world, profit getting in the way of needed health care is a crime. Letters going out from insurers telling immigrant mothers they are monitoring their asthmatic infant's use of the emergency room is putting the babies life at risk for the useless profit of these useless ultra parasitic firms.
End the use of exemptions from the labeling act for food and suspend the practice of allowing 1300 unstudied food additive agents to be used in food sometimes not controlled because they are called food additives they are often waste industry does not want to pay to get rid of and are the equivalent of drugs. If there is a doubt about something like nutra-sweet or MSG which there is strongly in both cases, pull them.
Go after Monsanto for the RBST censorship and after Fox for its total idiocy on all counts.
Teach people that sponsor based media even where there is disclosure is not different from getting information for a meth pusher. If the medium is the message as people like McLuhan and Habermas have said then the message her feudal top down total hierarchal power and abuse. That is the only message, the message is raw addiction to fuel a white sugar economy and mind set. Go after the American Cancer Society and the FDA for miss information. There are nations with very low cancer rates like ours was before 1 in 40 people but now it's 1 in 2.
Environment
Enforce the EPA rules. China is going green. We will be a joke if we can't get it together on this. China doesn't follow the BIS dictates even as they are a member and that gives them great power and makes the lead austerity generating organization irrelevant if they keep it up. On of the ways they will do so is by going Green. It will give them great moral authority. They get it. They retired plastic bags 2 years ago. Recently there have been studies that show 10 percent of some 450 species of fish sampled in diverse areas have stomachs filled with plastic from 5 trash plastic trash island gyries. We are going to where ocean food is inedible which ironically may save the marine eco system but with tragic consequence for stability and hunger.
Education
End the continuing fraudulent divestment of our schools that is "no-child-left-behind" and as Rye Cooder say end no banker left behind. Note that our schools are at the lowest funding levels in almost a century. Bank of American Board members should not be on the UC Regents, remove them. The three Rs are important but also drill in History and Civics and Communication every year of K-12 as a major emphasis. Focus on stripping away the denial and building sensitivity and a sense of ethics. Make sure that a solid liberal arts degree is about the only feed in degree for MBA programs that will allow those programs to retain accreditation. Business is not the point of society, society is the point of society and it for the benefit of the people.
Above all, protect a working internet and a measure of widely available anonymous speech. This alone can and will bring down our system which is based on censorship and secrecy. As people like Gwynn Dyer have said this communication technology is finally our chance to deal with the problem of hierarchy that drives so much instability and destruction for which our religions, economic and political systems have been inadequate. One of the key things that people need to be educated about for this to work is the rejection of sponsorship in all its forms but especially sponsored media because its hierarchical media and its message is the reinforcement of arbitrary and unjust hierarchy. Imagine we used to live in a system where three sponsored channels pushed the same images and narrative to hundreds of millions of people day in and day out in a way model way for hours a day for decades on end. We are waking up from that.
Privatization
Expose privatization for the theft that it is. Show it as the worst form of theft and pork. Eliminate any standing hedge against transparency that privatized operations have. Free the government from having to fund at a so called 'reasonable' return (%13) in guaranteed form any and all privatized efforts. The profit motive here only contributes graft. Stop them from gutting services firing and laying off staff and force the privatizers in many cases to disgorge profit as the structures and areas are renationalized.
Disabuse the public of any notion that the privatization leads to dynamic markets with no strings or costs, show them it's a cost plus worst- of-all possible worlds approach/scam that often has public tax payer money being used to fund expensive structures that are then handed over for nothing to wealthy rent seeking parasites to place their name upon as a kind of title to lord over. This insult to injury is often used to disparage the safety net and say it doesn't work. Go after these criminal maneuvers and make examples of the people involved and then criminalize "privatization." Drill into the public conscience that only where expensive infrastructure for a dynamic market is put in place by regulation and constant oversight to ensure competition vice cooperation (collusion) as human nature would dictate does anything like the public's current intentionally created misnomer on privatization make sense and even then only in some cases where a type of innovation is needed does it make sense, straight absolutely reliable government is often a better choice for cost effectiveness. In other cases even for innovation, public research is far better for innovation with the fruits generally handed to all comers and not channeled by pork. Privatization far from shrinking government creates defense industrial complex style morass.
Law
End the intentional defunding of our courts. It's become a tort strategy for business to overload the dockets. I think it was Georgia that after possibly executing an innocent man just let a couple people accused of murder go because they had waited to long for a trial.
Think about changing the basis for our law. We may need something more like the EU civil law approach in many areas. This includes a thin book of general rules that everyone can understand with an Article 92 like clause that doesn't reward technicalities to get firms off. If a firm is fraudulent, especially for repeat offenders, because those rules say that if after the fact what they did looks like fraud or is unethical they are going to down with a punishment that will fit the crime- behave in unethical ways you go down on a preponderance of the evidence test tort style. This should fit for American business because its area rife with criminality. We don't want business friendly government we want citizen friendly government.
Enough using trade agreements as an excuse to hollow out our back yards and subjugate citizens. It's time to break and weaken these agreements to stop them from being used as an excuse to further crime. Some labor oriented protectionism is needed and the laws can't be an excuse that allows the threat of capital flight, capital flight threats need to be taken as a serious offense because they allow the evasion or even prevent the placement of just laws.
Find proportional ways to punish firms. Miniscule fines that industries like Big Pharma build into the price of failed products are not acceptable. Big pharma has settled 500,000 times individually because their drugs and research are based on comparing one drug that doesn't work to another under "proprietary research" and not on doing actual controlled double blinds. And there of course a much larger number of cases that don't go to court. Million and millions are estimated to die every year because of the practice of profit first medicine- see Null's "Death by Medicine."
Like good crack pushing pimps they successfully hook MDs with coercive tactics and make them complicit. It needs to be possible to single out a firm like Merck and attach their profit at some arbitrary number like 10% for another arbitrary number like a decade in a very public nonnegotiable way as prosecution also goes after the assets of the officers in a similar way. The point is to hobble the firm and make it less competitive for a dissuasive duration. Non wholly employee owned firms should be a serious disadvantage here. This will help to make the stock holders pay attention to what they own and get people out of useless stocks and into bonds putting individual and pension investment on a more solid footing. If these measures aren't strong enough do a straight attachment and liquidation of a percentage of assets. Have the corporate death penalty from the 30s back on the books where firms can be outright liquidated. It's the same for officers, their assets and income should be attached in a similar way and they should not be allowed to be covered by the firm's money when legally when found guilty. Firms should also not be able to destroy evidence even if it makes them a target in successive cases or pick a plaintiff to settle with for a pittance. Remember despite a contested SC ruling to the contrary, firms are not people and do not have rights and only have something that looks like rights against each other- this is something that will be fought out. Bring back alien tort law so we can sue firms like BP and not have the British government say it doesn't have alien tort either. Our government dropped alien tort to protect firms like BP and Union Carbide. We do need to kick foreign firms from the market when it makes sense even if only temporarily. Also, executives should not have special prisons they should to regular prisons that everyday people got to as a way to help ensure that those prisons are humane and executives have some consequence they find meaningful.
Our courts need to grant the same basic protections of law to every citizen of the world that they do to US citizens even on property claims. And they need to protect prisoners from slavery.
Slavery
Eliminate for-profit prisons. This is a cancer on the soul of America that alone as a burning ember of the worst of the past can bring it all back. As Proudhoun has said "slavery is murder" and in this vein for-profit-prisons are murder for money. Everything is wrong about them including their lobbying to get sentencing definitions changed to increase profit and the downward pressure they create on wages. Also they are privatization at its worst they are self-sufficient on their slave labor but they still get massive subsidies on top of that which is pure profit for murder subsidized. Once someone is in this system they never get out because of the stigma and no second chance culture that the right has helped create. Along with our government assassinating most of the civil rights and labor leaders at the twilight of slavery, which only really ended in the 1950s, it introduced per Nixon's prerogative drugs into the inner cities because the "blacks were the problem," and of course now we have almost as many people of African American descent in slavery in prison today as we did during the height of slavery. A clause was added to the 14th amendment to allow for slavery in prisons. Note that the introduction of drugs into the inner cities had strong historical precedent in what England did to China with heroin to break into their markets. Also, do not allow these for-profit-prison murder houses that can extend sentences indefinitely and are traded on Wall Street to get into the charter school business in inner cities where they can start to play with child labor laws.
Imperialism
Eliminate preemptive war and the president's power to take offensive action. Bring back the full Geneva Convention. This preemptive war doctrine is the highest crime under Nuremburg, lets act on getting that prosecuted. Preemptive war and silly ticking time bombs are simply imperialism for would be kings and dictators lets recognize that. Let's stop the installation of dictators and the overthrowing of democracies that our government has been engaged in around the world and the Southern Western Hemisphere in particular. These people that engage in these things end up in our domestic policy implements trying to do the same thing to us.
Eliminate torture and secret prisons and disappearing people and issue a formal apology to the world and explain we had a moment of corruption and understand it was used to intimidate our own people and politicians to cover up absolute corruption like 911. The Bush Admin issued 50,000 thousand gag orders right after 911 many applied to people in our own government when only hundreds had been issued prior. This cannot be allowed to stand it screams cover up as does the FISA violations. The BBC announcing the fall of building 7 and then it falling 45 seconds later while not being hit and 2 trillion going missing along with bunches of white collar financial crime evidence points the finger at the BA. It's not just fringe people saying this we have poet laureates like Amiri Baraka saying it.
Take the patriot act and burn it on the steps of the Capitol building. It and all the other BS we've suffered was clearly an elite response to the LA riots in particular even as it was a decade in coming and is based on almost nothing but racism and fear McCarthy style. Even if we must get nuked the indignity of the silent martial law that is the patriot act is worse.
Bring back habeas corpus. Even under the English king where people were less than chattel and law was pure oppression, the home was sacred. Without its your door gets kicked in and a family member gets beat and disappeared in front of you and evidence is planted and your stuff racked and striped and you get a gag order on the spot on pain of having it happen to you or other family members.
Investigate 911 and prosecute the Bush Administration. And make people like Ian Masters and Jon Weiner understand that when issue dismissive dogmatic denials of even the need for inquiry they look as stupid as holocaust deniers. After that, send the BA officials found guilty to the ICC for lying us into a war. It will be time to open an investigation of the first gulf war for the same reason. If these crimes are not prosecuted we will have more. If we would have prosecuted the people who killed JFK and then his brother and the people who killed Dr. King and Malcome X and the other important civil rights and labor leaders would we have the problems we have today? If we would have forced Regan to honor labor law and opposed his deregulation would we have these problems?
End the Drone invasions. If WWI civilian casualties were 1 in 10 these have 8 civilian casualties per 10 targets which seeds future war where we may get the short end of the stick. Live by the sword and die by it. Death by drone is a real possibility Americans. Chomsky in one of his books point to a study commissioned by the US government that showed the results of policies like austerity would lead to an increasing gap between haves and have not(s) and recommended being able to kill anything from space within five minutes. The have are the 1% and add to that gated communities and Black Water type mercenaries and drones. Some may remember the movie Run Away. Imagine a swarm of flying AK-47s 100k strong each with the behavior set of an angry killer bee drifting out of quad cons on some doc in say LA and then spreading across the city sniping and enter building and perching and blocking traffic. Millions could die in hours and a city would have to be retaken. These would logically be pilotless hardened units. The don't miss and they don't fear. What is the strategy here? More fear mongering? We need to break up the defense industrial prison complex
Secrecy
It's also time for real defacto and de-jure transparency in government. No more government secrets not even for the president. No more stupid ticking time bomb arguments. It doesn't matter if it's the Manhattan project the government, however inconvenient, will have no right in court, none absolutely none (written into the constitution) to any form of secrecy. Things like witness protection are a matter of privacy. There may be secrecy that goes on but it won't be protected after the fact. The government also shall have no ability to enforce private secrecy. No more NDAs protected by law or contract and no ability legal ability to punish employees who won't color in the lines. Treat people well and choose your crew wisely. If Apple loses the plans to the iPhone 5 that's too damn bad.
Innovation
On intellectual property we need to stop thinking that special localized bits of grey matter come up with stuff. Ideas do tend to show up in more than one place simultaneously. We need only to have as much incentivizing force as will prime the pump and no more and it's not illogical to issue the same patent to multiple people even if not connected. It's fine to reward individuals but we need to be doing it on more of a public domain basis as an advance on future works. We pay only because we want people to bring forward more stuff. There is none of this total idiocy about all-the- market-will-bear. We should not enable rip off tactics and even under a corporate umbrella the IP even when it's the firm's tools on majority should belong to the originator. We don't want to reinforce corporate structure. Further we never want the public paying for basic research or even applied research and then handing the rights over exclusively to say Merk because the industry has a marketing regime already in place that makes that corrupt action the only feasible action. Hand it to the world and then the Mercs of the world still profit heavily from manufacture. No more flimsy arguments about firms won't undertake research, they only undertake what they think they can profit from so profit isn't even the best incentive for motivation and new studies show that more equitable societies are better on every measure of societal health including innovation. Let the profit come more from efficiency and effectiveness in manufacturing and in customer relationship. Let's end patent grid lock.
Drug War
End the non-sense crack down on marijuana. We may not want out kids using it. But the crack-down is the right becoming afraid people will get together in emotional pow wows and figure out ways to defund their useless wars. They are afraid it will snap people out of the delusion of right side religion and lead to a left renaissance. They are accurate but it's a weed a plant that grows naturally and one that seems given to domestication and a myriad of industrial uses. Not many other countries crack down on it and incriminating people over it, especially college age kids, is insane. It's kind of a war on our people and money is going to it that could go into education and rehabilitation. Its destroying our schools and our courts and undermining respect of law and it's simply a way for the right and the 1% to hold on to power. Let's take it away.
Ending Poverty with a 1% solution.
It's better to have a society with no rich people than one that has abject poverty. If we rise we rise together. We can do this because we the 99 generated virtually all the property or its worthwhile elements and give it meaning. The one percent can dream about a world without the 99 but they'd be back in the bush. And for those who say this is unrealistic, remember the virtue, wisdom and moral authority is in the 99 and we out number you 99 to 1. And for those who say this is a majority abusing a minority- no, this is a people in a truly American way telling a fringe group to take a hike.
