Suppressing Nonviolent Dissent

An anthology of police brutality at encampments across America.

Veterans assaulted with truncheons, women dragged through the streets by their hair, grandmothers pepper sprayed in the face, peaceful protestors bludgeoned while sitting. Sound like something authorities in Egypt, Tunisia or Syria would order and condone? Think again. It's happening here in the US.

Comparing anti-government protests in Syria, Egypt and Tunisia with US government's treatment of OWS is ridiculous. In Tunisia and Egypt, the protesters were venting their decades-old hatred toward western created and protected dictatorships. In case of Syria, it's US-Israel-Turkey militants against a dictatorship which supports anti-Israel forces (Hamas, Hizbullah and Iran).

Contrary to that, OWS movement, is venting their outrage against the 1% fatcats and not the government. However, since most of the ruling class is either part of the 1% or on Wall Street payroll, therefore, the pro-Israel conservatives are demeaning the movement as "un-American", "a bunch of parasites" and "anti-Semitic".

On July 4, a conference of Syrian anti-regime groups was held in Saint-Germain in France. The meeting was attended by 200 people representing none of the Syrian groups calling for reforms in Syria – the ‘Democratic change in Syria’. The meeting was organized by La Regle du Jeu (The Rule of the Game) magazine and website which is headed by Zionist Jew Bernard-Henri Levy. The other Zionist Jews who attended the meeting included Bernard Kouchner, former French foreign minister, Frederik Ansel, a member of Israel’s ruling Likud Party, Alex Goldfarb, former Knesset member and adviser to Israeli defense minister Ehud Barak and Andre Glucksmann, an Islamophobe French writer.

I have no great love of the country of Israel. I do not believe they play fair or treat the non-Jews inside their borders well.

That said, you're still an anti-semitic moron.

Face it-you people are failing. Failing to change hearts and minds. Failing to convert new people to your cause. Failing to change people's image of you as anything other than left-wing ,anti-Semitic, fringe extremists with no actionable agenda and no political power.

You are not the 99%. You are not even close to the 99%. I don't know a single person who aligns themselves with OWS. In my town the protesters are laughed at and treated with polite derision. They have accomplished nothing.

The hateful comments popping up here are hilarious. Like people don't notice their agenda. It's hard to use the term critics because there are so few actual critiques offered. Ad hominem attacks, guilt by association, and other logical fallacies are the main techniques. Pay attention people, there is a meme war on. I see it every time i turn on the news.

And if you oppose OWS, why not offer a rational critique and we'll debate with mutual respect. We're not against you. Criticism is productive. Calling thousands upon thousands of people you don't know filthy useless hippies only shows your lack of effort to even try to understand the situation.
