Tactical Briefing #36
NICK WHALEN / KEN ILIO
Alright all you existential diggers and expectant souls out there,
Defying all cynicism, the passion on the streets keeps burning … with the crisis of capitalism intensifying people’s rage only grows, erupting in unexpected places like Quebec, Moscow, Mexico, Tel Aviv, Khartoum, Addis Ababa … meanwhile we keep learning new tricks in Madrid, Los Angeles, Greece, Palestine, Manhattan and Hong Kong.
The Zuccotti encampment model may have had its day, but the spirit of our movement lives on in the hearts and minds of hundreds of millions of people around the world who know in their gut that the future does not compute.
Now a new operational model is emerging: the strategic pincer —> We attack the global financial system from above with big bang protests, uprisings and revolts —> concurrently we attack the global financial system from below with hundreds of daily move-your-money actions at the 35,000 branches of megabanks worldwide.
The Bank of America has 6,200 branches, Wells Fargo 6,600, JPMorgan Chase 5,500, Citigroup 1,300; Barclays has 4,700 branches in 50 countries, Deutsche Bank 3,100 in 72 countries, HSBC 7,200 in 85 and Goldman Sachs has over 70 offices worldwide … in front of these outposts of global capital we pitch our tents, bang our pots and pans, hold our credit card cut ups … we hand out pamphlets to the customers going in and out … we engage them in passionate conversation and convince them to move their money … we trigger a chain reaction and move $1-trillion away from the megabanks before yearend, changing global banking for good.
With our strategic pincer we beat the shit out of global capitalism over the next few months — metaphorically speaking of course — and then we escalate towards a series of global solutions: a Robin Hood Tax, pushing through a binding accord on climate change and launching hybrid Blue/Green Pirate political parties in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the UK, Japan …
Stay loose, play jazz, keep the faith … Capitalism is heaving and our movement has just begun.
for the wild,
Culture Jammers HQ

I'm so looking forward to the Blue/Green Pirate Party primary elections to select their candidate for the US Presidential election on Nov 6, 2012.
Time's running out. Better pick the candidate soon!

A better and peaceful world is possible — a world where people and nature come before profits.

In a wave of protests confronting the worst corporate abusers, we’ve faced off with Wellpoint, Walmart, Sallie Mae, Verizon, Bank of America, and more.

Finally, capitalism, we should not forget, is an irrational system. Its commitment to the structural logic of capital accumulation and profit maximization makes it so. This has always been the case, but it takes on even greater force in this era of structural crisis and environmental destruction on a global level. No matter where we turn, it seems like capitalism is aggressively pursuing polices that make no sense from the standpoint of humanity, economic sanity, and nature.
Capitalism needs to be replaced.

Leave Communism in the 20th century. I don't want a rational political and economic system, I want cultural and political freedom from corporations, not the total control of a planned economy. Alright its not even worth arguing with communists, but I'll put it this way, you really think you would not have to smash some heads in America to implement a worker's state (even if it eventually "withers away"?) Take a look at the Tea Party and tell me, would they just forget their "false" ideology and become happy liberated non-alienated workers? Nope, they would have to go somewhere or stay in this country and have the juridical rights the enlightenment fostered.....or they would be gotten rid of by you????? And if your into violence as a means to your end, then just come out and say it and count me out.
Marx had brilliant analytical (or dialectical?) insights into some aspects of capital and alienation. But, he offers little on the afterwards of the crisis and the revolution and what socialism and then communism would actually look like. Do you know why??? Because he believed that history had laws, and the new order of communism would form itself through our actions inevitably as social beings. So, he was wrong, and a 19th century grand-narrative man, since there is no logic or deck of laws to history. He was so wrong that when the Paris Commune took place, he worked furiously on Capital vol. 1 in order to beat the revolution so he could claim to have predicted it. Well, was he right about that? Wake me up when he is.

Silly capitalist, you will love communism!
Especially the 'using other people's money' part, my personal favorite.
Free beer, free vodka, free food and russian smokes, even prostitutes are free!
Join now, before we run out of other people's money!
See you at the free food and booze lines, comrade!

I'm intrigued by the whole strategy, but particularly "launching hybrid Blue/Green Pirate political parties." I've done a quick Google search, but I'm not finding any more information about this. I agree it's time to start a brand-spanking-new political party to challenge the corruption of the status quo - here in the U.S. and worldwide. I see too much of our U.S. economic sociopathy spreading to other nations.
Mammon has been kicking our asses for years, it's time we take the fight to Mammon.

This very Adbusters Tactical Briefing #36 is where the formation of the Blue/Green Pirate political parties is announced to the world.
Who will lead the Blue/Green Pirate in the USA remains unannounced, and whether that candidate will run for President in the Nov 6, 2012 general election.
One thing for sure, America is ready for a new political party, one that will support the goals of the Occupy movement.
Research at Columbia University indicates that public support could reach as high as 12 percent of voters in the US. Stay tuned for a major press announcement on the research when it is published in August.
These a exciting times for the Blue/Green Pirate Party of America.
Even more importantly, these will be exciting times for the supporters of the Blue/Green Pirate Party of America, and the entire USA.

Creating a political party is a great idea if you don't mind fraudulent elections being the norm and always rigged in favor of fascists. It's time we take our fight to those armed against us. If successful there, we can proceed however way we want.

"Goldman Sachs has over 70 offices worldwide … in front of these outposts of global capital we pitch our tents, bang our pots and pans"
That's great. Send us a pic or two.

I sense loyalty to method.
Instead of re-re-villifying B.O.A and its institutional friends how about expressing displeasure to Brian T. Moynihan, and his confederates and friends.
Anyone who wants to know how much power a typical person really has, what their free speech rights really are, try to get a parade permit in Rolling Hills, California or someplace like that.
A welder friend of mine told me the story once how he and his brother got fired and their boss stiffed them for their last paycheck. They went and stood in front of his house and yelled and screamed what a deadbeat he was and they got paid.
They are both hotheads. I'm surprised they didn't get arrested.
