Tactical Briefing #36

The Strategic Pincer.

NICK WHALEN / KEN ILIO

Alright all you existential diggers and expectant souls out there,

Defying all cynicism, the passion on the streets keeps burning … with the crisis of capitalism intensifying people’s rage only grows, erupting in unexpected places like Quebec, Moscow, Mexico, Tel Aviv, Khartoum, Addis Ababa … meanwhile we keep learning new tricks in Madrid, Los Angeles, Greece, Palestine, Manhattan and Hong Kong.

The Zuccotti encampment model may have had its day, but the spirit of our movement lives on in the hearts and minds of hundreds of millions of people around the world who know in their gut that the future does not compute.

Now a new operational model is emerging: the strategic pincer —> We attack the global financial system from above with big bang protests, uprisings and revolts —> concurrently we attack the global financial system from below with hundreds of daily move-your-money actions at the 35,000 branches of megabanks worldwide.

The Bank of America has 6,200 branches, Wells Fargo 6,600, JPMorgan Chase 5,500, Citigroup 1,300; Barclays has 4,700 branches in 50 countries, Deutsche Bank 3,100 in 72 countries, HSBC 7,200 in 85 and Goldman Sachs has over 70 offices worldwide … in front of these outposts of global capital we pitch our tents, bang our pots and pans, hold our credit card cut ups … we hand out pamphlets to the customers going in and out … we engage them in passionate conversation and convince them to move their money … we trigger a chain reaction and move $1-trillion away from the megabanks before yearend, changing global banking for good.

With our strategic pincer we beat the shit out of global capitalism over the next few months — metaphorically speaking of course — and then we escalate towards a series of global solutions: a Robin Hood Tax, pushing through a binding accord on climate change and launching hybrid Blue/Green Pirate political parties in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the UK, Japan …

Stay loose, play jazz, keep the faith … Capitalism is heaving and our movement has just begun.

for the wild,

It doesn't make much difference at this point, whether Romney has raised half a billion or more. The reality we're dealing with is that there's no difference between parties and presidents except in rhetoric. In terms of major policies, they're almost identical. If you're in America, you're in a nation that's a hair's breadth away from totalitarianism. The freedoms that Americans enjoy are limited to consumer choices and that's the extent of their freedom. Espionage laws are soon to be applied to the press, which means that the propaganda is only going to increase:

Yes, I understand that the parties are in the same boat... I have called them the Donkephant Uniparty for a decade or so.

The reason I bring up the Romney money is just to put some scale to the problem. What difference does it make if a few thousand folks move their 401ks out of the market and put it in a local bank? And that's the kind of numbers we're talking about at tops. It's a huge hassle to move your savings around and it's done that way on purpose.

And yes I am very concerned about the US devolving into a police state. In many respects we are there already. Our electronic communications are monitored without warrant in direct violation of the 4th Amendment. The military is standing by to put down OWS or any other movement that gets out of their control. Domestic spying with data mining and who knows what technology they've got continues.

It's a sucky time to live in America. I'm glad I'm old. I hate the mess we're leaving for our grandkids and it is sort of our fault. The hippies declared victory when Nixon resigned and went home to get stoned and live in a house. The GOP was sharpening their knives. We got Reagan, the entire political system pulled to the right, and at the end of it all, for all our troubles, a little bit of insanity right on Capitol Hill.

I don't have a solution. I understand what some of the problems are and I think Adbusters is great, which is why I've had a link to them on my website ever since I heard of them in the early 2000s. Buy Nothing Day seemed like a perfect protest. And practical.

The more you know, the more pissed off you get. I'm just finishing Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein. If you haven't read it, please do. It gives names, dates, and places and how much was taken. It's a whole circus, you know. Rumsfeld's hollow military hires contractors to blow everything up and the same firms end up getting the rebuilding contracts. That book is an outrage.

I have to close this. I am starting a new website called "Outragefatigue.com" which I hope will be relevant until the internet goes black in America. The simple format is that I am going to list and solicit outrages, some separated by category, some by timeline, and chronicle the whole ugly picture back to when I believe it started.

Cheers, and thank you for the reply, and I should have said earlier, thanks to Adbusters for everything they do. Possibly if there is enough public awareness raised things will turn around. After all, the say they need our votes. At least for the time being.

I wrote an extensive reply to your post, anonymous. Don't know what happened to it.

Basically I am in agreement with everything you point out, and the only reason I brought up Romney's bank account was to give some scale to the size of the machine that we are attempting to dismantle.

Respect to the men and women protesting police executions in the streets of Anaheim. Stay cool, stay safe ...

The comments of live streamers (Tim? xbones? both?) reporting safely with or behind the police are biased in favor of the police. Does that need pointing out?

The people are being co-opted as extensions of the police, deputized. This of course only to save money and time for the Top being protected until they figure out what to do (about everything that's coming down the pipe).

That's afterall what they're good at. What they know.

Culture Jammers HQ:

A few important questions regarding your manifesto, "The Strategic Pincer", above:

Question 1: "we trigger a chain reaction and move $1-trillion away from the megabanks before yearend, changing global banking for good."

Where do you want or plan for all of this money to go? Into other banks, simply withdrawn as cash, donated to a cause?

Question 2: "With our strategic pincer we beat the shit out of global capitalism over the next few months — metaphorically speaking of course — and then we escalate towards a series of global solutions: a Robin Hood Tax, pushing through a binding accord on climate change"

Who is going to implement the"Robin Hood Tax", "a binding accord on climate change", and on whose authority The UN? Or do you plan to create a 'new world order'?

Question 3: "launching hybrid Blue/Green Pirate political parties in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the UK, Japan …"

What will be the philosophy of these new political parties? Why will they be called 'pirate' parties?

How will these 'pirate parties' excerpt influence? Will they exist within the current democratic structures within these countries, or will they seize power?

Don't forget that the US is having its Presidential and certain representative's elections on Nov. 6, 2012. Will the Blue/Green Pirate party be running a candidate for President, and for the other elected positions? If not, how do you intend it to manifest itself?

1. They've been pretty clear in the past that they advocate moving the money into credit unions - institutions which are much more local, financially conservative, and concerned with the needs of their users.

2. They're just trying to continue building support for things to rein in casino capitalism and climate change. How do you get "new world order" out of that?

3. The "pirate" part comes from the new pirate parties of Europe, which are comprised of mostly the young and/or radical. They've been a bit of a surprise to the political establishment there, and I'm guessing AB hopes something similar can happen in the other countries they just mentioned. Obviously, they would exert power within current structures.
