ADBUSTERS TACTICAL BRIEFING #16

Alright you rebels, redeemers and believers out there,

At the height of the global uprisings in 1968, protesters confidently heralded "The Beginning of a New Epoch." To this bravado, Zbigniew Brzezinski, then the national security advisor to the president of the United States, retorted that the protests were nothing but "the death rattle of the historical irrelevants." And indeed the first global revolution the world had ever seen suddenly fizzled out. To this day no one quite knows why.

For the moment, #OCCUPY has the magic and the ear of the world, and anything seems possible. We could see a soft regime change in America and a resurgence of the political left worldwide.

As winter approaches, many occupiers will dig in for the long haul. Others will decamp until spring and channel their energy into myriad projects. Many of the big ideas for rejuvenating and reenchanting the world that have been swirling around the left for the last 20 years will pick up steam. From revoking corporate personhood to de-commercializing the cultural commons, to separating money from politics, to the birth of a True Cost Party of America … we are entering a sustained period of boots-on-the-ground transformation.

And every now and again we will have a worldwide blast reminiscent of the global march against the Iraq war eight years ago. The next of these blasts could happen as early as this Saturday when #ROBINHOOD strikes the G20. Imagine a few million people rising up and sending a message to the G20 leaders meeting November 3/4 in France: "This austerity vs. stimulus debate you've foisted on us doesn't mean a damn thing… It's obvious you have no idea how to get us out of this economic mess you put us in. So now we are telling you what we want: a radical transformation of casino capitalism… we want you to slow down fast money with a 1% #ROBINHOOD tax on all financial transactions and currency trades."

#ROBINHOOD marches have already been announced in over a dozen cities. Bring it up at your general assembly … then create some edgy Robin Hood graphics for the world to digest and let's march out there millions strong this Saturday … Let's leverage the G20!

This could be the first great upheaval of the financial regime … and the first delicious fruit of our movement.

for the wild,
Culture Jammers HQ

There are #ROBINHOOD actions currently planned in San Antonio, Las Vegas, Montreal, Durango, Calgary, Washington DC, Santa Fe, Denver, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Sydney, Amarillo, Edmonton, Salt Lake City, Berlin and more…

P.S. On Tuesday, the nonviolent protestors at #OCCUPYOAKLAND were assaulted with tear gas, rubber bullets and flash grenades. Disturbing footage of police violence is now emerging. That same day, #OCCUPYATLANTA was foreclosed and over 50 protestors arrested. The counter-revolution of money has begun but our commitment to nonviolence will win.

The Illusion Of Hate

When we see great tragedy in the world, we see war, we see hunger, we see destruction of our biosphere, and we say to ourselves, People are really just terrible aren‘t they. We are killing this planet and we are killing each other , we are going to destroy ourselves one day. Whether we all feel deeply that this is true or not, I have certainly heard the suggestion tabled in a wide variety of forums over the years. This notion however is part of an illusion.

Strangely Enough you could travel the world over and over in your lifetime, and never stop meeting compassionate, calm, loving people. They are literally everywhere. People with respect, dignity, and intelligence. Not all of us get it right all the time, but instinctively we help, or are helped by others in our time of need.

It would be ludicrous to suggest that there are no people who wish to hurt others, either by crime or control or violence, who live in our streets, in our cities, maybe in our homes. A very few behave like this because they like it and don’t see it as wrong. The greater majority do so because they are desperate, alone, Ill, lost, lonely, and left on the exterior of a world they do not understand or wish to join. Are these then the people who shall be our ruin? The multitude of good or the wounded? Are they the cause for this inevitable self annihilation? Are they the source of this magical evil and wrong doing? I would suggest they are not.

It is clear now, due in part to the increased availability of information, that there is a very real and separate history that occurred apart from the one we have been taught. And an intricate and deliberate plan to control and suppress humanity, as a whole uncovered. We know now that the wars we and our families fought, the depressions, the millions of dead around the world ,the constant state of animosity we are kept in with our fellow man, the bad food or the no food, this is a direct result of a few families, with beds made long ago squabbling over control of wealth and power and us, who they control absolutely through money. This betrayal strikes deep at the human heart because it means the way of honor we have been shown, that which allows us to feel as if we are the on the good guys side, is suddenly and transparently devoid of any real honor, and the sacrifices made by our brave and dutiful are a glory only to our enslavement.

Previously shrouded in mystery these people have been demystified, only recently called the illuminati or such other things, we now know some of them by name and it has become impossible for the instigators of this lie, to conceal it any longer. The unveiling of this deeply routed and potent façade adds up to nothing short of a global human awakening, in a very real cosmic sense.

Many, people through out history have been aware of this illusion, some may have just glimpsed it, but thought it too fantastic a lie to be true. Some may have seen it more clearly than others, or seek the poets and minstrels, philosophers and painters. Its all there. The fact is that we share the legacy of an ancient device of control that we are growing out of.

We know Money ,banks, armies and religions with churches are the tools of this device. The battle for the upper hand on the stick of this mechanism has become increasingly complex and more and more destructive. The resources needed to power it are becoming harder to come by and the cost of sustaining it is weighing heavily on this planet. Cracks are starting to form in the façade, and as the impossibility of keeping it intact grows, so to the number of people who see the deception will grow. This is happening now, we can all feel it, in fact it needs no real description, but more and more of us are starting to stare aghast at the trickery and illusion, and at how starkly different life could be, once we can begin to see again.

No longer is it the eccentric or the mad or the mystic talking of secret societies and conspiracy theory’s. Today in middle America some where, two guys, neighbors, are sweeping the front drive together, scratching there heads saying, “you know Bob I think the government did that 9/11 job. And they didn’t really even try to hide it that well, and if there doing that then, hang on a minute what else is going on around here.” This is the start of a journey to discovering not only what has been done in our name, but to questioning what we will do now, To imagining what we could do on our own, free from this frame work that’s purpose is to subdue and extract.

In North Africa, the Middle East, all over the world there are people facing a separate lie, but the same one. there are different circumstances and different standards to achieve every where . But It has become clear that an overall reform of how we treat each other is necessary. It has also become clear that the first point on that agenda has got to be to end the cycle of violence and destruction and abuse that is created by Allowing those who control all the wealth, to control the government. This has been said many times before in history and may sound trite, but circumstances are allowing this idea to resonate on a never before seen scale. At this point there is a calm urgency for it to take place. We will need courage and compassion as our guides for the coming transition. We are not going to kill ourselves or destroy the world, because we are the 99%.

You are totaly right. Keep going like that and spread.
Everythings made with money and massive communication ARE NOT GOOD, this hide alway something.
The solution for the People is to throw out TV and other mass media and start thinking by themself. And move their lazy fat ass from the sofa.

Specific analysis of the Robinhood effort. Read and evaluate on your own. Do your own dligence. And don't forget that "It never works out well for the sheep in the long run..."

Excerpt:

"It’s very easy for the throngs of young protesters to fall into an obvious socialist, or collectivist trap, as many naive young Americans are unable, or unwilling, to liberate themselves from the Hegelian dialectic which tells them that the government must raise taxes and spending in order to achieve any social progress.

It’s obvious that the number one and two problems in America are a lack of jobs and creeping inflation, a duel plague which is fueling a dropping standard of living in the US and Europe- and ultimately dissent globally. Occupiers are not asking why their government allowed US corporations to ship millions of American jobs off shore, and why it never bothered to offer incentives to foreign corporations to relocate in the US. Likewise Occupiers have not identified that their own Federal Reserve is robbing them every day by creating artificial scarcity, driving the kind of boom and bust cycles which ultimately rob Americans of their life saving and assets.

Rather than demand an additional new monster system of taxation, Occupiers should first be asking if any government can be trusted to spend their tax revenue responsibly. Certainly today it seems that pork rules in Washington and Obama’s Administration is presiding over the biggest budget deficit in the history of the US. This should be cause for alarm, yet, it’s hardly mentioned by the Occupy crowd.

Incredibly, the Occupy Movement are not asking the government to cut spending- and become fiscally responsible.

They might also consider asking their beloved government in Washington – and elsewhere around the globe too, where all their tax revenue actually goes right now. If they understood that at present, their Federal Income Tax(in some cases, collected at gunpoint by the IRS) goes directly to paying off the debt which their government owes on each and every dollar printed by the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank.

Any market tax would have to go global in order to keep industry within participating nations. Occupiers would surely be wary of allowing a Federal or global government to erect a new massive taxation system, no? Apparently, one of the great features of the Occupy Movement in America is their overwhelming loyalty and trust in the Obama administration. If it were a Republican administration in power, then it is certain that demonstrations would take a much more anti-government tone.

The OWS has, to their credit, urged protesters to close their bank accounts and transfer their money to credit unions with a bank transfer day on November 5th, certainly a step in a positive direction. But is it enough?"

This article is trying to claim that "Occupiers" have not identified issues with outsourcing jobs or all the issues with Federal Reserve? These are 2 of the key points that have been rallied about, so I'm not sure how they missed that message. What do they think all the "End the Fed" business is about? Both of these issues are address in the 'Petition of Grievances' to be addressed, which has tentatively been put forth from the Occupy Movement.

The article makes some reasonable points, but I couldn't take it seriously when the author is turning a willfully blind eye to what the Occupiers have recognized or not.
