#OCCUPYXMAS kicks off Nov 25/26
Hey dreamers, occupiers, rabble-rousers,
You’ve been sleeping on the streets for two months pleading peacefully for a new spirit in economics. And just as your camps are raided, your eyes pepper sprayed and your head’s knocked in, another group of people are preparing to camp-out. Only these people aren’t here to support occupy Wall Street, they’re here to secure their spot in line for a Black Friday bargain at Super Target and Macy’s.
Occupy gave the world a new way of thinking about the fat cats and financial pirates on Wall Street. Now lets give them a new way of thinking about the holidays, about our own consumption habits. Lets’ use the coming 20th annual Buy Nothing Day to launch an all-out offensive to unseat the corporate kings on the holiday throne.
This year’s Black Friday will be the first campaign of the holiday season where we set the tone for a new type of holiday culminating with #OCCUPYXMAS. As the global protests of the 99% against corporate greed and casino capitalism continues, lets take the opportunity to hit the empire where it really hurts…the wallet.
On Nov 25/26th we escape the mayhem and unease of the biggest shopping day in North America and put the breaks on rabid consumerism for 24 hours. Flash mobs, consumer fasts, mall sit-ins, community events, credit card-ups, whirly-marts and jams, jams, jams! We don’t camp on the sidewalk for a reduced price tag on a flat screen TV or psycho-killer video game. Instead, we occupy the very paradigm that is fueling our eco, social and political decline.
Historically, Buy Nothing Day has been about fasting from hyper consumerism – a break from the cash register and reflecting on how dependent we really are on conspicuous consumption. On this 20th anniversary of Buy Nothing Day, we take it to the next level, marrying it with the message of #occupy…
We #OCCUPYXMAS.
Shenanigans begin November 25!
for the wild,

No, they've "quietly changed the way" *you* think about the day. The rest of the "99%" doesn't even know this ridiculousness exists, unless they read about it on Glenn Beck's Web site.
OWS should be grateful to Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and FoxNews. Without them, you'd get no coverage at all! (And, they should stop talking about you, giving you the attention you childishly seek. Then, maybe, when you realize nobody cares about your pointless "movement," you'd just go home and leave the rest of us alone.)

NO. they've also "quietly changed the way" "I, myself" think about the day. Don't speak for the rest of us 99%'ers and a$$ume we're all like YOU.
I've been well aware that this ridiculousness existed long before I realized there was a "movement" attached to my decision to skip buying Xmas gifts. I bought into the whole thing not because I read it on Glenn Beck's website, but because Xmas and the shopping season has long been a time for stress and chaos.
F'it. I don't need another useless sweater if the 12 in my closet keep me warm. I don't give two cents about the latest gadget so long as my current one does what I need it to do. And sure as heck aren't going to stand in line to save a few bucks when I could spend it with my spouse and family- whose company I much rather enjoy.
In other words. Don't speak for the lot of us. Because we don't all agree!

Yea, i've had about 26 BNDs because i don't like going out on Black Friday. Not because some crazy organization is telling me to. I've tried it, and i'm still knocking it. I'm just not a supersaver who looks forward to BF like it's better than Christmas. And i seriously don't believe that your family is closer because you choose not to go shopping one day out of the year. Nice try with this excuse, but no one believes it.

You say that we should boycott / occupyxmas because all these major corporations are making too much money. The so-called one percent with 99% of the wealth. These companies are selling their products that the public uses and fill a need in society. Bottom line is that they sell "things".
What does adbusters suggest, that every corporation gives its products away? If that's the case, then the so-called non-profit adbusters should not be charging people for subscribing. Sorry, not non-profit, but not for profit organization.
Everybody and every organization is selling something, even the person doing the photocopying. Because they are working for someone who works for someone else who is selling something to somebody.
You say you are not selling anything, yet you are charging for subscriptions? Isn't that selling?
Get over yourselves and tell the truth. Believe it or not, not everyone believes your crap.
