A New Global Economic Order
Hey you jammers, dreamers, patriots and revolutionaries out there,
Our occupation of Wall Street is less than two weeks away … do we have it together?
The perpetrators of the massive financial fraud have been allowed to slip quietly from the scene and continue business as usual. Our elected representatives in Washington have become so tightly intertwined with the financiers and bankers that public accountability has all but vanished.
#OCCUPYWALLSTREET is all about breaking up that cosy relationship between money and politics and bringing the perpetrators of the financial crash of 2008 to justice.
On September 17, 20,000 of us will descend on Wall Street, the iconic financial center of America, set up a peaceful encampment, hold a people's assembly to decide what our one demand will be, and carry out an agenda of full-spectrum, absolutely nonviolent civil disobedience the likes of which the country has not seen since the freedom marches of the 1960s.
From our encampment we will launch daily smart mob forays all over lower Manhattan … peaceful, creative happenings in front of Goldman Sachs; the SEC; the Federal Reserve; the New York Stock Exchange … and maybe even, if we can figure out where they're being held, at the sites of Obama's private $38,500 per person fundraising events happening somewhere in Manhattan on Sept. 19 and 20.
Our strategy will be that of the master strategist Sun Tzu: "appear at points which the enemy must hasten to defend; march swiftly to places where you are not expected."
With a bit of luck, and if fate is on our side, we may be able to turn all of lower Manhattan into a site of passionate democratic contestation – an American Tahrir Square.
We will do all this with peace in our hearts. Our unshakable commitment to nonviolence will give us the spiritual strength we need to inspire the nation and to ultimately triumph in the weeks and maybe months of struggle that will unfold after September 17.

PS. Last week Anonymous endorsed #OCCUPYWALLSTREET with a video that attracted over 70,000 views. The Department of Homeland Security has warned the nation's bankers to be prepared. Corporate owned media is taking notice. Yesterday, a columnist for MarketWatch.com posted a rousing portrait of what may now unfold:
"Listen closely. This is not another internecine political squabble. These revolutionaries are pushing America back to its roots. You sense they're drafting a new Declaration of Independence, driven by the same powerful motivations as the 57 original signers who wrote: 'Whenever any form of government becomes destructive … it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government.' Back in 1776 King George III was the destructive force far away. Today greed is the corruptor, from within."
S17 occupations of financial districts are also being planned in Milan, Madrid, Valencia, London, Lisbon, Athens, San Francisco and hopefully many other cities still to be announced. S17 could well be the catalyst that ushers in a new global economic order.

You are right but as this Anonymous replier indicated a few posts above, if enough first responders show up and make their presence known then it will be exceedingly difficult for on duty police officers to attack the crowd. It will also make the United States appear a complete and utter hypocrite for clobbering their own law abiding citizens while cheering on their counterparts in Arab Spring states even though the ousted dictators were US backed puppets. I imagine shame is no longer in the standard politician's repertoire of feigned emotional expression.
I believe younger officers on duty at the event will consider how those whose careers they replaced, the heroic men and women who on 9/11 risked their lives only to be betrayed by the state, and stand with he people. Those who've been around long enough to have lost colleagues to illnesses sustained from exposure to toxic airborne particles at ground zero in the attack's wake will have to decide in his or her own heart and soul whether their allegiance is to the people or to those who've turned their backs on their ailing, dying and deceased predecessors. Men and women of honor will stand with the people.

Riot cops are basically soldiers. They have a rigid command hierarchy, they move in formation, and they're drilled continually on the importance of following orders without worrying about the consequences or understanding the full picture of what's being done to the protesters.
There is no room for individual or even groups of riot cops to decide whether or not they think it's justified to attack or arrest the crowd. If they're ordered to do it, they will. They may not like it, but they damn sure will do it. So don't count on swaying the hearts of the storm troopers with your noble 9/11 survivors.
Similarly, don't count on the media publicizing the outrageous story of 9/11 survivors being mistreated by police. That story will kick around on radical blogs and alternative media, and die down without much - if any - major coverage.

If we allow them manipulate the media against the occupiers then they can skulpt an insidious picture of people, who are occupying a public city street, in the name of their lost jobs, and there lost hopes; and their sick of the manufactured fear state. the 10 years of American occupation of foreign lands in the name of bloody oil to feed to consumers in order to perpetuate an unsustainable public theocracy of greed and intake, distraction and excess. To the detriment of our mental environments, of our health and right as living human beings to breathe fresh air, drink clean water, and eat non tainted and poisonous foods.

Your comment highlights the importance of rallying 9/11 WTC first responders to attend the occupation. It will be difficult, if not impossible, for police to arrest those courageous souls who placed their own lives at risk to recover bodies from the wreckage. Some have died of illnesses sustained during the rescue/recovery operation, many are sick. They can no longer perform their jobs but have been denied disability pensions and other expensive health care coverage. Now, on the eve of the 10th anniversary ceremony, the Mayor of NYC has advised them there isn't enough room for them at the official memorial. If anyone deserves to be there it is the families of the lost and those who responded with heroism during and after the attack. These brave men and women have little to lose. All efforts should be made to have them attend the occupation. I believe the manner in which NYPD officers and other law enforcement agents treat those who will gather in a lawful, peaceful exercise of their freedom to assemble in public space and express themselves.
If first responders do show up in some numbers, a defining moment in modern history will occur as on duty officers assigned to the scene decide in their own minds whether or not to obey an order to arrest anyone at the rally on receiving orders to do so. The Constitution is the highest law of the land and trumps any municipal by-law or state legislation denying people their right to assemble and express themselves freely. Police officers and other law enforcement agents know this. Soldiers assigned to the Department of Homeland Security force have all sworn oaths to uphold the Constitution. Ultimately, each officer will decide whether he or she will respect the Constitution and serve the people with honour.
If the security strategy involves setting up a perimeter around Wall Street so those intent on exercising their inalienable rights won't even get close to the locations they wish to occupy, the simple act of letting them pass the line in peace will convey to the world, via the media who have shown tremendous support to the unjust plight of first responders, that the officers on the street stand with the people. They will do so in the same spirit or solidarity witnessed when Egyptian soldiers were hailed for standing with the people against their now departed dictator. Sheer numbers did the trick in Egypt. The impossible position police may be placed in by commanders eager to bring down the boot may be enough to bring them onside in NYC.
