A Movement is Born
Jammers, dreamers, rabble-rousers, revolutionaries,
#OCCUPYWALLSTREET is thundering across America, threatening to morph into a full fledged national movement. Channeling the nonviolence of the Egyptian Tahrir Square uprising and the bottom-up collective decision making of the Spanish acampadas, we vow to end the monied corruption of our democracy.
This Saturday #OCCUPYWALLSTREET enters its third week … be there at Noon and stay for the weekend … or be at one of the 50+ fledgling occupations now being organized across the land.
Our people's democracy movement is about to get three mighty boosts:
- On October 6, a few thousand of us will swarm the capital and #OCCUPYDC. Find out the plan at october2011.org
- On October 15th, the movement goes global … check it out at 15october.net
- Then, on November 3 and 4, we have something special in mind for when the G20 leaders meet in France.
Time to live!
for the wild,
Culture Jammers HQ
occupywallstreet.org / occupywallst.org / occupytogether.org
PS.
Our movement needs more edgy theatrics … maybe we should tar and feather the Charging Bull … or burn an effigy of Lloyd Blankfein? Send your wild ideas to [email protected].
To get a sense of the visceral mood at #OCCUPYWALLSTREET, check out the daily dispatches from OccupyTVNY along with the mini-documentaries "We Are The 99%" and "Nobody Can Predict The Moment Of Revolution." Also, David Graeber's op-ed in the Guardian and Nathan Schneider's article in the Nation are worth reading.

Hello people of EEUU, those who are occupying Wall Street & every single plaza of your country right now and those waiting for doing it.
We from Spain feel emotioned to see what is going on there, in the bridge in the plaza..., some people say "The revolution will not be televised - but is being live-streamed" and I agree. We all around the world are watching you.
We know what you feel about, since 15 of May we'd taken the streets and the plaza in Madrid "Sol" and all over Spain (Barcelona, Valencia and hundreds), http://bit.ly/pIUfba and since then never surrendered and we keep growing up and calling every single day for truth, for changing, for Re-Evolution http://bit.ly/qNES2D , our next Global meeting is the 15th of May http://15october.net/

So, we need a 'cause'? Well, allow this longtime Adbusters fan and reader to weigh in: There is only one choice, and I will preface this with the the following...allof the things we call Problems, are merely symptoms, and Those who are The only Problem love watching us chase that tail...eating away at our own selves when we actually catch our own tails! Ok? Now, I repeat: the things we all call problems with our government, and society for that matter...are symptoms.
This means we allow them to continue forever, because we do not fix the One Problem from which all of these symptoms are spawned. The richest people in the world, the most powerful organizations with good intentions, are trying to solve "problems" these days...like bill gates trying to eradicate diseases. Yet, they will still die, be raped, be murdered...and will just catch the next epidemic.
Ok, ready for that nugget which will give the Occupy Wall Street ground upon which to build a real revolution, whih will solve ever single thing we call problems. YOU, have begun to garner the attention of both the mainstream media, and the world for that matter, but it will be one big fizzle...unless you listen: The ONLY problem, is simply Political Corruption. And that means we have to Fix Congress first...then the states and other government agencies will fall in line. The easiest way? New political parties, and take The Senate. 100 seats, and we save the world eventually.
This duopoly is evil, and by that I mean corrupt. so, get the folks at Wall Street to chant about getting rid of Political Corruption, and that means new elected representatives not betrothed to either party. If you look up fascism, wherein the business and political entities works solely for their own benefits and to maintain their grip on power, that is where we have arrived. The mainstream media will follow your lead my Adbusters family.
PLEASE, write about my thoughts and conclusions...and get the wall street a cause - else it will flounder, and be attacked. If they join to end political corruption, two things will be created: first...no one can criticize the cause, and people will get involved. In thoreau's words: Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity.

Simplistic, simplistic, simplistic. The problem is not 'political,' it's societal. The problem is the fact that our society is organized so that money makes money, a ponzi scheme based on the fallacy that infinite growth is possible. That scheme defines capitalism and creates plutocracy. The answer to plutocracy is democracy, not reform of political institutions (like the govt of the 1789 Constitution) that were created by and for plutocrats. True democracy -- the results of which we cannot know in advance because whatever it is will be the people doing it -- is the only answer.

Listen, what you just typed here is the prime example of why it is so important the movement is well-learned. I can't draw one actual, tangible thought, much less a solution from your "thoughts and conclusions" to anything that pertains to the current situation. It honestly sounds like you are just typing words that you think might work to paint a vivd picture of the situation, but you are not doing that, and I promise I don't mean to offend. I am just "calling it as I see it," I suppose. You fail to realize that political corruption IS corporate corruption, and vice versa, and that is in fact the very POINT in the movement that you got on the internet to scrutinize.
