How You Can Help #OCCUPYWALLSTREET

As we enter day five of the protests, join in and help out your fellow 99%.

This article originally appeared on OpEdNews.com

This article is available in:

These patriot occupiers are fighting for 99 percent of us. Those who are unemployed, uninsured, underemployed and totally insecure in the face of ever increasing social and financial inequities. They are standing up for those who cannot be there right now.

Here's the good news – you can help, right now today – no matter where you are.

  1. Spread the word – there's something going on. People have started a movement – they're occupying Wall Street. Hundreds of people have been camped out in lower Manhattan for four days!
  2. If you're in New York and can only spare a little time or money: bring American flags, cardboard, markers, water, etc. down to Liberty Park.
  3. If you're in the New York area and have a day, a morning, an afternoon, go down there. The weather appears to be holding. Take the day off and just go. I know it sounds hard to believe but you will be heard. This is an open general assembly effort and you will get your say and be a real participant.
  4. If you are a little ways from NYC, organize foursomes to go to NYC for the day. It will cost you the train/bus/car fare. Take nothing but some food and water and your body.
  5. Too far to get to NYC? Sign this petition and I will read your name and comments in Liberty Park this week, I promise. Break Up Goldman Sachs Now!
  6. Be subversive against the big money interests wherever you are and encourage others to do the same. Don't give the banksters 4 percent of every purchase you make with a credit or debit card – use cash. See: UseCashMovement
  7. Be subversive: max out your credit card on large ticket items and return them the next day. (This one is right out of the Saul Alinsky playbook.)
  8. Move your money from a big bank to a credit union.
  9. Picket a local branch of a bank. When the press asks you what the heck you think you're doing, tell them it's in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street.
  10. Send food to the protesters in Liberty Park through a New York friend or go to the live stream chat for information on local eats that will take your order. (Yes, you'll have to use your credit card, big spender!)
  11. Do you know anybody who knows anybody who knows a writer, a celebrity, etc. who will show their face at the protest? Get to them now.

*Bonus support idea: Spread the word again, and repeat!

Chaz Valenza is a writer and small business owner in New Jersey. Read more about his Occupy Wall Street updates.

The corruption must END NOW!

This not Class warfare it is genocide just like the Nazi used to take over and control the governments and the people of Europe 76 years ago!

The only difference now is that they use Money that is a over bloated Fiat paper currency that is presently not worth the paper it is printed on!

I support and only wish I was young against to join this movement there on Wall Street against the overly corrupted greedy Bakers of Wall Street and their criminal Hacks!

I live in Panama City, Panama.

Panama's Criminal President is in New York as I write, begging Wall Street and the Narco Money Launderers for more money to turn Panama into a Right Wing Dictatorship!

Only about $.20 out of every dollar(Public Funds & IMF Loans & ImEx bank and others) ever reaches the people of Panama!

Panama is a good example of the Banks and the Government stealing the monies, enriching themselves with funds which belong to the Citizens of Panama!

So, WALL STREET must change it way of doing business now, just like these Governments must Change now!

We must not tolerate being held hostages in our own countries to the Banks and the Governments which pretend to support us and our needs!

DOWN WITH WALL STREET NOW!

MY HEART AND MY SOUL ARE WITH ALL OF YOU THERE!

PLEASE DO NOT WAVER OR GIVE IN, THE WORLD WANTS ALL OF YOU TO BE ABOVE THESE CRIMINAL GREEDY MONEY LAUNDERS!

BEST WISHES FROM PANAMA

"All Democratic, and so called Totalitarian States and All lessor Countries use the originality of LAW to secure the power over the proletarians and the misfortunate. They never abandoned their Cloak of LEGALITY! They always turn their LAWS inside out to make the ILLEGALITY of LAWS LEGAL!"

we should not be set with demands! first because we all have different ideas! evey one of us.

but they all revolve around one common problem. we have to remove the problem..

100% of us are cancer to this planet and the 1% is cancer to us. lets remove the 1% before we can

change/help the world/economy. Im not a huge fan of the economy. if it was up to me i would

just let it go! but its not that easy and right now they are in control, pushing and mastering the loop holes

that keep them on top. stay strong! this wont be easy! oh and if anyone!!! sees cops/corporate body guards

doing something out of control like=(beating someone+...) stand up for them. we have to understand we

are the enemy to the 1% and their body guards and THEY OURS! we

stand together and we

will rise together they will fall if we stay true and most important together. much love. Anoni

Social war, y'all - it's not a week of peaceful campouts.
We need to find each other and form real affinities that will allow us to attack the actual infrastructure of everyday life, instead of chasing chimeras. WALL STREET IS JUST A SPECTACLE - POWER IS YOUR BOSS, THE COP ON YOUR STREET, AND YOUR LAZY BOYFRIEND WHO EXPECTS YOU TO DO HIS DISHES.

This has been making the rounds in some Canadian anarchist circles - I hope it provides some of the sort of inspiration that this seems to lack . . .

STOP WAITING!

Our society is organized by work. When somebody asks "What do you do?" they're not asking about what you value in your life - they want to know where you fit in to the scheme of production.

Work sucks.
No increase in minimum wage will make flipping burgers, or answering telephones, fulfilling "investments" of time and energy. Most of my generation doesn't expect anything from work - not adequate safety equipment, let alone pensions. We fill in the gaps in the machinery, and we're treated like it (programmed, used, maintained, and, ultimately, replaced).

Economies don't suffer - people do.
Why should we give a shit about the economy? Why do we slave away to prop up the economy that builds the prisons, puts cameras on the street corners, gives us cancer, and tells us, "Work! Or else!" Or else what?
What can they take that they haven't already taken?

We have no independence.
We don't grow our own food, heal our own bodies, build our own houses, write our own stories, make our own music, or decide what time we need to get up in the morning.

We have no voice.
We don't even speak the same language as lawyers, politicians, cops, and pigs-in-general. We can't vote our way out of this shit - the option isn't on the ballot.

We have no space.
The countryside and the city have given way to a sprawling factory - canola monocultures, business parks, condos, and truckstops. We can't move around without being ID'd, signed in, recorded, and traced.

Do we have each other?
We have hundreds of friends on Facebook, but no communities. We have identities, which mean that people can identify us, but we don't have our own stories. Instead, we bond over shared experience of YouTube videos. By schools, TV, and brute force, they've ripped away our cultures and histories. We have no sense of solidarity because we live surrounded by strangers. Honestly, who would you fight the police for? We're more ready to kill and die in racist wars on the other side of the planet than we are to stand up for our neighbours.

Well, what (the fuck) can we do about it?

STOP WAITING!

We don't need an organization to do it for us - we can organize ourselves. Offices, memberships, and dues are just distractions from what needs to get done. Being recruited is just as dangerous as being arrested, and, for that matter, it's all the easier to arrest us if our names and addresses are on some party's mailing list.

We can feed ourselves!
(You can feed yourself!)
We don't need to eat their processed crap, let alone be forced to pay for it. We can shoplift and dumpsterdive to survive while we make friends with farmers and learn to grow our own food.

We can shelter ourselves!
(You can shelter yourself!)
We can share rooms and split rent so that it only takes a day of temp labour (or panhandling) to pay (the less you work, the more time you have to find ways of not working). We can squat abandoned buildings, and we can camp. We can learn to build our own houses, and dig our own wells.

We can take care of ourselves!
(You can take care of yourself!)
Do any of us expect the law to protect us from the police, racists, global warming, or intimate violence? We can learn to build barricades, to throw a punch, to set a broken arm, or to perform an herbal abortion. We can confront abusive behavior, and support each other through abuse, addiction, depression, and long winters.

STOP WAITING!

If you're sick of being governed, be ungovernable!

Don't let them evict you. Don't let them evict your friends or neighbours. Don't let them arrest you. Don't let them arrest your friends or neighbours. Refuse to co-operate with police. Refuse to be harassed. Refuse to pay. Refuse to work.

Parliament in Ottawa doesn't control us - power is local. It's the landlord, the lazy dude who expects a woman to wash his dishes, the Walmart security guard, etc. We start by taking back our own spaces - our own lives. We just need to begin.

You should give a shit about the economy. cause first off even if you dont like the answer, you are a part of this economy. but you also have to understand that this economy is a "idea" government is an "idea" sold by the greatest sales people ever (the1%) the leaders of this country and media. that everyone jumped on. or might i say was sold. it is now that we are waking up and seeing that the idea was and never for us. as long as we leave this world/our lives in the hands of the corrupt. thats what slave owners do. they sit back while someone else does the work. i agree though when is enough going to be enough when will we be willing to really give the shit they sell up... LUXURY COMES AT A PRICE AND WE ARE BEING SOLD!!!
