"Wall Street, Expect Us!" says video communique.

Jammers, dreamers, patriots,

Anonymous has just released a video communique endorsing #OCCUPYWALLSTREET. Using language from our first Tactical Briefing, the video calls on protesters to adopt the nonviolent Tahrir-acampadas model. On the 17th of September, it says, "flood into lower Manhattan, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy Wall Street for a few months … Once there, we shall incessantly repeat one simple demand in a plurality of voices."

See also signs of support for S17 on Anonymous's Twitter and websites.

Meanwhile S17 is surging ahead internationally. Simultaneous occupations of financial districts are now being planned in New York City, Madrid, Milan, London, Paris and San Francisco. With a bit of luck, this list of participating cities will expand.

If we can pull together just the right mix of nonviolence, tenacity and strategic smarts, S17 could be the beginning of the global revolution we've all been dreaming about for so long … wouldn't that be lovely.

for the wild,

"Its up to those willing to fight to change the world for those who cannot."

Agreed. I don't think we're ever going to have a MASS movement, and social change does not actually happen by mass movements, generally. Usually, there is only a small percentage of the population that will rise up and take on the power structure, and that is usually about 2 percent.

In my daily life as an organizer I seek out the people who understand that social change is going to be a long, drawn-out and not particularly easy or fun kind of project, and try to create a strategy. When I think of folks who are bogged down and enslaved into whatever lifestyles they've created for themselves, I think of the mainstream US, so I'm not really interested the mainstream US when it comes to creating a movement. I don't know how to tell those people to drop everything, and there is no point in me trying.

What we need to do beyond actions- like what this tent city could be- is to get people looking long-term and build a culture of resistance along with radical organizations that are capable of sustaining that, since we need to constantly question the basic systems like capitalism that are destroying ourselves and the planet. Popular education is a start, which could very easily springboard out of the energy created by such mass political actions.

While I support the occupation, I must agree with Mr. King on several points. This occupation is like shooting a bear with a super soaker. Will the bear notice? Yes. Will it annoy the bear? Yes. Will it kill the bear? No. In fact it may give the bear the motive it needs to kill you. The enemy is correct, and the timing is correct, but the weapon is insufficient.

Hi there!
Anybody interested in occuping the Berlin Börse?
Check it out:

It is possible to occupy a public space with enough people and a thorough organization, there could be shifts, hence people could work the first half of the day and spend the evening and night occupying - nobody is saying it'll be comfortable and convenient, but nothing is forever and how can one expect to see change without sacrificing time and effort on their side?

Great. Look at #OpBart and #OpFullerton. We'll have the same kind of turnout from them (50-100 hipsters in Guy Fawkes masks) except they'll then claim all credit they can and hog the attention as much as possible.

Anon is anyone and no one, and more often it's the latter.
