TACTICAL BRIEFING #18

Occupy the High Ground!

This article is available in:

Hey you creatives, artists, environmentalists, workers, moms, dads, students, malcontents, do-gooders and aspiring martyrs in the snow:

The last four months have been hard fought, inspiring and delightfully revolutionary. We brought tents, hunkered down, held our assemblies, and lobbed a meme-bomb that continues to explode the world's imagination. Many of us have never felt so alive. We have fertilized the future with our revolutionary spirit … and a thousand flowers will surely bloom in the coming Spring.

But as winter approaches an ominous mood could set in … hope thwarted is in danger of turning sour, patience exhausted becoming anger, militant nonviolence losing its allure. It isn't just the mainstream media that says things could get ugly. What shall we do to keep the magic alive?

Here are a couple of emerging ideas:

STRATEGY #1: We summon our strength, grit our teeth and hang in there through winter … heroically we sleep in the snow … we impress the world with our determination and guts … and when the cops come, we put our bodies on the line and resist them nonviolently with everything we've got.

STRATEGY #2: We declare "victory" and throw a party … a festival … a potlatch … a jubilee … a grand gesture to celebrate, commemorate, rejoice in how far we've come, the comrades we've made, the glorious days ahead. Imagine, on a Saturday yet to be announced, perhaps our movement's three month anniversary on December 17, in every #OCCUPY in the world, we reclaim the streets for a weekend of triumphant hilarity and joyous revelry.

We dance like we've never danced before and invite the world to join us.

Then we clean up, scale back and most of us go indoors while the die-hards hold the camps. We use the winter to brainstorm, network, build momentum so that we may emerge rejuvenated with fresh tactics, philosophies, and a myriad projects ready to rumble next Spring.

Whatever we do, let's keep our revolutionary spirit alive … let's never stop living without dead time.

for the wild,
Culture Jammers HQ

Occupy Black Friday. On Friday November 25 attend you local Black Friday festivities. While there walk as slow as you can. Slow the mob of consumers that pays no attention to the consequences of its actions.

i'm sure that the thinkers and doers will come up with stuff to keep us growing, cohesivily, coherently and with some continuity.
Here in Billings, MT we have a working group to pull together a group to march in the Holiday Parade... as OccupyBillingsMT.org. It's going well we have 20 some commitments - good enuff for paying our fees and prepping. We have a working group for Public Access TV. i did a years TV as: The Wobblies} Exploring Economic Social Justice and Living Wage... aired on Wed at 5:30pm. I know it can work and the price is $400 for the year appx 50 episodes! We have a working group to bring resolutions to the City/County councils. Folks should check into local Pub Access...though often is carried by a Commercial carrier.

We in Billings, were not plagued with the Tent City issues. We are free to insert ourselves at wherever bizzy intersection we voted on occupying. Many smaller communities may feel the same sense of continuity of accomplishment.
i wish that there had been leadership in this latest chapter of our Revolucion to have the prescience and understanding of tactics and strategy. As soon as the inevitable came to the threshold of here come the goon squads WE should/they should have Regrouped/redeployed rather than leaving our Troops for Peace and Prosperity for All in a Rout. Should not have happened. A call to disengage and leave the goons with thin air would have been a lot more cohesive and demonstrated tactical savvy. We have to be more 'guerilla' in our tactics. Not let the little we have be destroyed and the Press showing the wiping of OccupyWS when they couldn't bear our presents.
i think there is much to be gleaned from Adbusters commentary... It is Winter time to put our heads together ~ stay warm and inject some battlefield humor} and Be Ready to attack the ruling class of Neolib bastards in the Spring.
Gawd just the thought of this Politburo/ala Lenin/Stalin SuperCmmt/alaObamaNationInc makes me sick, infuriated, And hopefully we'll Primary to Win in 2012 It's either we press for Good governance thru Voting/ala Campaign Finance Reform ~ NO CorpCapitalists in Politics or its molitov cocktails and fighting fires with gasoline.
Personally i'd like to see Energy, Health Care, Banking, Big Ag, and Transportation NATIONALIZED. should pretty much put the kabosh on Capitalism.

Agenda suggestion
Tell us The Truth
Tell us the truth about the human, carbon, ecological and economic impact of your political and corporate agenda or face criminal prosecution for criminal negligence in addressing the harm your conduct is causing to people and our future.
Reform the unethical and unsustainable political and corporate conduct or we will reform the legislation in the future and prosecute your criminal conduct.
Tell us the truth is your corporate conduct causing ecocide, the large scale long term destruction to our environment, out web of life, our life support system and how do you intend to reform you conduct. If not we intend to enact legislation as soon as we can to prosecute your criminal negligence in addressing ecocide which is endangering our future.

The destabilisation of our planets climate is a crime against life on our planet
Tell us the truth about the carbon footprint of vehicles, homes, buildings, flights and manufacturing products on the other side of the world. We demand ethical, sustainable economic policies. Or we will enact legislation to prosecute your conduct even if it means prosecuting you in your old age.
Who should be the first to be prosecuted for ecocide? http://thisisecocide.com/
Should the CEO and Board of Directors of Exxon Mobile if they have funded disinformation as we have struggled to address the destabilisation of our planets climate face criminal prosecution?
The CEO and Board of Directors of the Automobile corporations who sabotage the development of the electric vehicle using fraudulent evidence that consumers did not want them in California in 2000. See the film Who killed the electric vehicle. Then destroyed those initial prototypes
Corporate manufactured Epidemics
The leadership of corporate tobacco when they became aware that they were manufactured an epidemic of ignorance, addiction, illness, cancer, anguish, financial ruin and death funded disinformation consequences and faced no criminal prosecution for their acts of murder. This is not going to continue.
Having approved the Keystone Pipeline is the Prime Minister of Canada and the CEO and Board of Directors of TransCanada Pipeline using fraudulent science in their assessment of the global human, economic and ecological impact of ramping up climate destabilizing emission vias the Keystone Pipeline. Scientific accounting fraud must be subject to criminal prosecution like financial accounting fraud.
Political leaders, their business and religious supporter once thought slavery, then colonialism and then permitting corporations to manufacture epidemics of illness and death were ok. The time for those criminal values to face criminal prosecution should they not reform has come. Prosecuting ecocide is essential to addressing our quest to survive.

Sorry, I just want to get this out to NY Protesters. Though I doubt I'm anonymous and at this point anyone who reads this who knows me will know its me. :) When the Police tell you to leave the Park because its a fire hazard you need to be respectful and leave the park. I imagine you can come back to the park after they are done but you need to leave the park. If you have a tent and you can't pack it you should still just leave. I have heard people who work for police departments say that if you "resist arrest" and you get a "bump on the head" it's your fault because you "resisted arrest" after they "warned you that you would be arrested". I don't agree with that statement but that's one man's opinion. So be peaceful, follow their orders, and go on March, you should be able to come back to the park once the "fire hazard" is gone which is most likely all the tents. Give them a chance to spiff up the park. Resisting law enforcement when they give this kind of order is a BAD IDEA. Your going to gain more support by showing respect to police officers when they are responding to public concern of a fire hazard. Personally, I would like to see the movement move around to different parks potentially so that the park has a chance to recover from that many people on the ground and grass, and give the local people who do not want to be involved in the movement a respite from the noise of it. However, I support being civically-engaged and speaking up for what you believe in. Jobs, Civil Rights, Education, Health, Environment, and Crime! Try your best to be respectful of your "whole community" and it's property as possible while doing it. Thank you!

How about we occupy everywhere locally and hold general assemblies in neighborhoods where people can form work groups to actually begin real change - boots on the ground work - like planting gardens and feeding people and brainstorming how we do a new economy AND, AND, AND - all the good ideas we'll need to actually continue to OCCUPY the EARTH!

Here's some others talking about this: http://www.yesmagazine.org/people-power/after-the-eviction-whats-next-for-occupy-wall-street?utm_source=wkly20111118&utm_medium=yesemail&utm_campaign=titleSchneider
